It's a tune up fight for Roy Jones who is going to fight Bernard Hopkins early next year. In fact, Bernard Hopkins is the main event (live from Philadelphia) of this double header (broadcast on the Versus channel for us in the states).

So Jones should beat Green easily and Hopkins should win his fight easily. There will be a lot of interest in that fight, but probably very little in Jones-Green.

^^yeah it's actually pretty cool to see both Hopkins & Jones on free TV, even if they are both just tune up fights...

Versus to air Green-Jones along with Hopkins-Ornelas

Boxing fans in the United States (who don't have DirecTV) will be treated to a special two-fight night of the sweet science on the Versus Network on December 2, as the network has picked up a same-day tape delay airing of Roy Jones Jr.'s fight in Australia with Danny Green to go along with their airing of Bernard Hopkins' return to the ring. Hopkins faces Enrique Ornelas in Philadelphia.

The fights, of course, are being set up to get both Jones and Hopkins ready for a 2010 rematch.

who hopkins & jones?

I think their ego's will keep both of them in the game, unless there is a brutal KO.

If hopkins wins, I can see him fighting Chad Dawson then calling it a day.

If Jones wins, Hopkins will still continue fighting cuz there is no way he'd retire with an L.

Same goes for jones I think.

I'm hoping Hopkins knocks Jones the fuck out and into retirement though. Hopkins can still compete on an elite level whereas Jones can only look good against bums, so it would be for the good of the sport.

As for Green, I'm going to be honest I don't know much about him but I can only assume he's not very good since he lost to Anthony Mundine. OutcastedOutlaw, have you seen much of his fights and what do you think about him as a fighter? How is the hype for this fight down there? Lots of media attention?

@ 2-0 .. Mundine Vs. Green was one of the most profitable fights held in Australia. I want to say they split somewhere around $10 million for a local fight. I saw him fight Dominguez live and have seen a few of his more recent fights .. he's really not all that bad. I'm sure I have a few of his fights I can upload if you want.

He has a far better chance of beating RJJ than Ornelas does of beating Hopkins. I still think both of them win their fights and this is a good fight for RJJ to take considering he should get a pretty nice payday off it.

Green just won in the first would you believe it

there was alot of hype all week but was kept civil, both men have respect for each other

Green is a one of the unluckiest fighters but one of our best, he likes to get inside alot

damn Australia has stepped up in global sports in the past 10 years..but this would of been different with Jones in his prime..

Roy Jones...next to Julio Cesar Chavez was my favorite fighter to watch growing up.

I guess when you're a fighter who's success relies on reflexes and speed...once you start aging, those are the first things to go...

Damn, I would have liked to have seen Hopkins-Jones II. Its a shame that fight didn't get made years ago because of egos. That will be a black eye for the sport for a long time.

damn jones got crushed, he needs to retire now. No more Hopkins/Jones rematch. Hopkins will either have to go straight to Dawson or David Haye.

Props to Green for hopefully making jones realize it's time to retire. That punch wasn't even that big:

I don't know if it was really a black eye on the sport since they were in different weight classes for all those years. Regardless, the time it should have happened was immediately after Hopkins crushed Tito Trinidad, since Trinidad was supposed to fight Jones after fighting hopkins. Hopkins wanted jones at that time, but Jones was too much of a dick head to go 50/50.

I've been seeing people bring up the "if you don't think Silva has a chance against RJJ" bullshit all day. If you don't think Green would crush Silva all the same in boxing then there's nothing to be said to you.

If Anderson could make it to the top in boxing and make top level boxing money he would be doing it.

I thought it was sort of an early stoppage but Green hurt him badly and followed up with RJJ not doing much. All props goes to Green, especially since after the Mundine fight Mundine was going around saying he wouldn't give Green another fight because he didn't want Green to get another payday. I wonder how he feels now ..
