TO ME IT SOUNDED MORE LIKE HE WAS SAYING IF YOU GOT A JAY-Z LIKE BUZZ IN YOUR CITY THEN YOU SHOULD TAKE A DEAL FROM A LABEL TO PUSH YOUR PRODUCT OUTSIDE THE CITY AND NOT RELY ON LOCAL FAME... I COULD BE WAY WRONG BUT THATS WHAT I TOOK FROM IT... I THNK ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS INDEPENDENCE IS THE WAY TO GO BUT IF YOU CAN MAKE THE SAME KIND OF MUSIC ON A MAJOR LABEL THAT YOU WAS WHEN YOU WAS INDEPENDENT THEN SMART MONEY SAYS TAKE THE DEAL AND EXPAND YOUR FANBASE... IT AINT NO SECRET THAT QUINN SHOULDA HAD A EAL A LONG TIME AGO... BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS... FOR THE RECORD I'M NOT SAYING THAT SAN QUINN IS JUST A LOCAL ARTIST IM SAYING WITH A LEGIT DEAL HE COULDA REALLY OPENED ALOT OF DOORS TO SOME HUNGRY CATS IN THE BAY...

San Quinn had a major deal before Jim Jones did.....Unfortunately very few people outside of Northern California knew who he was back then....Including myself, even though I just found Source magazines in my garage from '98 that talk about San Quinn.....I guess if it didn't make it to BET or MTV I just wasn't paying any attention.....

THATS ANOTHER THING... THE REASON WHY NIGGAS LIKE JAY-Z IS ON IS BECAUSE THEY WAS ON T.V. AND RADIO ON BOTH COASTS AND DOWN SOUTH AS WELL... THE WEST HAS ALWAYS BEEN LIKE A STEPCHILD TO THE RAP GAME... WE DONT GET THE RESPECT, RADIO PLAY OR T.V. SHINE THAT CATS ON THE EAST OR DOWN SOUTH HAS GOTTEN... IMO IF IT WASNT FOR THE INTERNET WESTCOAST RAP WOULD BE OBSOLETE TO THE REST OF THE INDUSTRY... AGAIN I COULD BE WRONG BUT THATS HOW I FEEL

Yeah thats not a diss, he's just telling the truth...That sounds like big props to me...Jim Jones has been all around the states and dipset was popular oversees 2...So he was doing shows everywhere...

For him to remember how Quinn was accepted and apluaded by the people says alot IMO.....Jim basically said he was blown away on how they reacted to Quinn hitting the stage.....

In Jims opinion Quinn dropped the ball...But what that nigga dont know is there are alot of cats that have that kind of prescence in Northern Cali...IE..Nickatina, Jacka, Lynch, Mac Dre (RIP), keak..I can go on and on...

Shit on a side note that reminds me of the concert i went to in Chico on Holloween when Mac Dre and Nickatina were making there rounds together....Mac Dre came out by himself before the show started in his brown valour (sp) suit a brown wig and a glass of heem in his hand and started giggin....It was at a club so music had been playing while people were getting drinks and listening to music....When people realized he was dancing on the dance floor they went crazy..RIP to Mac Dre...He was a entertainer for sure....

Cali as a whole has numerous rappers that are overall much better artists than what we see and hear on the radio and bet/mtv nowdays. Artists out here on the west coast are more than capable of being heard on the radio through all 50 states, we don't receive that veneration we deserve to say the least.

Don't get me wrong some of the old school east coast music is decent like older jay z, and some of Biggy, and some well respected artists down in the south like UGK.

But i mean from north to south we have/had artists that should of got national spotlight such as Dubee, psd, 3xKrazy, RBL Posse, San Quinn, JT the Bigga Figga, Cougnut and the whole IMP, Dush Tray, Too Short, Mac Dre, Coolio da undadogg, Cellski, Mac Mall we've had so many artists and i think some of the best music ever to come out of the Bay Area. So Cal has been doing their thing too with Snoop and those DoggPound days, along with Dr.Dre, Dj Quik, NWA to say the least.

Being independent in the rap game is better now than at any other time. With all the tools on the internet (youtube, facebook, twitter, blogs, websites) you can promote YOURSELF as good if not better than any label can. And you can control your own career as far as creativity and content. I respect guys like San Quinn who have been independent for all these years because they paved the way. Now you look at cats like J. Stalin who is getting attention from everywhere and is setting up tours in Europe on an independent budget. That is what the Bay has always been about.....

And it's a shame that all these talented WestCoast rappers keep signing major deals only to get shelved because of issues with their label. The list goes on and on......independent is the way to go in 2011.
