hip-hop to me isnt dead but its gasping for air. we need a real rapper to come and revive it. all the nice rappers arent even noticed any more. look at rock n roll. first it was rock then it wasnt about music it was glamour rock then it went back to rock. hip hop is doin the same thing. right now is the bling money makin faze and hopefully these rappers snap out of it. so as of right now mainstream hip-hop is dead IMO

i can understand where the south is coming from. Nobody thought to address the state of Hiphop until the Sotuh was basically in full control and New York had completely fell off. Now that there was a southern takeover all these east coast artists want to say that Hip Hop is dead.
The southern artists are making it seem like this whole "Hip Hop Is Dead" thing is about them - and it aint. These dudes automatically took offense before taking into consideration what else Nas could have been referring to. Now they've (south cats) got their minds made up and you can't tell them nothin. They felt slighted, so everything has to be about them now

This kind of reaction/attitude partially reinforces what Nas and Jay are saying about Hip Hop being dead.

Hip Hop is not dead..

Nas didn't invent hip hop...

He did not lay a foundation...

He is no "LEGEND" as people make him seem...

and for him to say "hip hop is dead" ...dude is out of pocket..

i say he should change the tittle of his album to something like..

"NY Is Not Getting Paid"....

all these NY fucks are mad because they ain't getting paid...

I can't wait to hear a Saigon or a Papoose album ..

Nas is not the same Nas as Illmatic, I am and his other albums...

Nas can make good music...but he is no legend IMO..

backwood..if you gonna post..post an UNHIDDEN MESSAGE next time..thank you..

MrPeete are you a retard? really tho..I DID MENTION ILLMATIC in my post....jeesh...i swear...

really tho..what makes him a legend? I'd like to know...he is a dope MC ..but to be label him as legend or call him "THE FOUNDATION OF HIP HOP" it's absurd....sorry buddy....I rather call RUN DMC, Eric B. & Rakim, LL Cool J, Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Marley Marl, Kool G. Rap, Kurtis Blow, Doug E. Fresh LEGENDS..
