I was in Jamba juice over this past weekend, and i was recently put on this place, now im not one too be a diet type or be " healthy" but i was trippin that the avg drink at jamba juice has roughly 560 calories, lol. i was trippin cuz i know alot of people who drink them juices instead of going too burger king for lunch and they think they " dieting" - what a scam. i meen dont they even market there product as " healthy drinks" - 560 calories is like 3 cheeseburgers.

I dunno, just felt it kinda odd that it have THAT much calories for being what they are.

i use to work at jamba juice. those smoothies(24oz) are considered a meal. They're actually pretty healthy because its all real fruit. I use to laugh when i heard people would eat a whopper with their smoothie

you're on crack! one whopper burger has nearly 700 calories. 1 mcdonalds cheeseburger is 310 calories and a double cheeseburger is almost 600. i see what youre sayin that it has more calories than the average person thinks, but 3 burgers, depending what kind u eat, at your average crackfood restraunt will put you well over 1000 calories pretty much everywhere u go. that is why fast food restraunts are the scurge of america and i havent eaten at one in over a year and plan to never again. its crazy what they tryin to feed u nowdays, fast food, prescription and nonprescription drugs, and advertising. keepin every1 hooked

The composition of your food is just as important as the amount of energy (calorie count). I could eat a 500-cal Jamba Juice smoothie and a 500cal Cheeseburger and one will obviously have a much better nutritional value.

Also, Their smoothies are often used as whole or partial meal substitutes.

On the negative side, though, the more "liquid" any sort of juice is, the elss your body has to work on breaking it down. Pure juice is already broken down and goes straight to storage. That is why fruit juices from concentrate such as apple, orange, juice are not as great for you as they are advertised. If you get a Jamba Juice, ask for it "chunky" to be sure to force your body to break it down. The more liquid it is, the faster it goes to fat (empty calories).

On a side note, I wouldn't pay for a Jamba Juice. One of my girls works there so I get it free. They are highly overpriced imo. The way to get free ones is to befriend an employee (at least a supervisor) outside of work. Being a regular customer will never get you as high as the good friend or man of an employee. This works for all restaurants and is the poor Man's Meal Hustle.

Well I am from the old school, in that I only worry about too much fat grams. I run, so I still apply the notion that carbs and calories are a good thing, and fat is the bad thing. This carb counter thing was non existant in the 90's, at least with people i knew. Of course, we were training to run a marathon.

White Devil basically covered it.

I've been dinking smoothies as breakfast for a while now. Can make them at home in just about as much time and they cost less.

I make mine with 1/2 cup (before it's cooked) oat meal, strawberries, 1 whole orange (peel removed not quite that whole), and sometimes a banana or 1/2 peach or some pineapple and about 3-4 ice cubes.

another good shake mix if you work out is:

1/2 a banana
1 cup strawberries
1 serving whey protein
1 serving creatine
3/4 cup milk
1 cup cranberry juice
1 cup ice cubes

I got it from a magazine the thing I like about it the most is that it feels you up because thats my biggest problem from those meal supplement shakes is that they never feel me up.
