There have been an estimated 250,000 Iraqi civilians killed since March 2003. Yes it is a war but that level of civilian casualties is absurd. Especially since the US has chosen to focus their rebuilding resources on building 4 enourmous PERMANENT bases and an embassey which is 104 acres (normal size for a US embassy is 10 acres). Add to that the war crimes in Falujah in 2004 and Haditha this year and the transformation of the middle east into a nuclear wasteland by the US use of DU in Iraq since 1991 and Afganistan since 2001.

from the L.A.TIMES today...BAGHDAD — At least 50,000 Iraqis have died violently since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion, according to statistics from the Baghdad morgue, the Iraqi Health Ministry and other agencies — a toll 20,000 higher than previously acknowledged by the Bush administration.

Exactly. They are using the estimates spoonfeed to them by the administration and not doing any real investigation. In 2004 there were an ESTIMATED 100,000 Iraqi deaths this was before Fallujah which added another 50,000 or so.
^ can u post some links to where u can read this (exact death toll )? and if hes talkin about "estimates" thrown out by the gov't, then im sure u would have no problem puttin out some rock hard evidance for your "accurate death toll"

First off: 1)I never said accurate (as a accurate count is near impossible in war time). If you actually READ what I wrote you would see it was a ESTIMATE. And 2) it's not MY death toll. The US has tried to control all news about Iraq since day one. If you read news from independent journalists not "embedded" with the troops or independent papers and other sources you'll soon learn of the vast discrepancy between what's really going on over there and what gets reported in the major US media. 3)The official line from the state has no "evidance" (as you so eloquently put it) to support it, just low balled numbers. The same for the American death toll. For instance if a soldier is wounded in combat but dies while in transport to Germany or any of the other miltary hospitals they aren't listed as KIA. So althouth the US death toll is reported as 2500 it is actually much higher.

These numbers do not take into account the enourmous amount of DU (a defacto WMD) used by the US in Iraq and Afganistan which has rendered the whole region a nuclear wasteland for LIFE. It still remains to be seen how many deaths, birth defects and other injuries come about our use of DU.

No real media outlet will be able to fully report the number of casualties--finding "proof" is nearly impossible.

Yet,
there is a very good reason that estimates as high as 250,000 dead circulate.

Actually the average US embassy is 10 acres. The new one in Iraq (which will be in the Baghdad "green zone") will be 104 acres!

http://www.commondreams.org/headlines06/0415-07.htm

It will have its own water wells, electricity plant and wastewaster-treatment facility, "systems to allow 100 percent independence from city utilities," says the report, the most authoritative open source on the embassy plans.
Besides two major diplomatic office buildings, homes for the ambassador and his deputy, and the apartment buildings for staff, the compound will offer a swimming pool, gym, commissary, food court and American Club, all housed in a recreation building.
Security, overseen by U.S. Marines, will be extraordinary: setbacks and perimeter no-go areas that will be especially deep, structures reinforced to 2.5-times the standard, and five high-security entrances, plus an emergency entrance-exit, the Senate report says

on another note, 104 is rediculous.........
Yes, especially when you add the 4 enourmous permanent military bases being contructed right now. Which will have a full assortment of fast food, a auto dealer a gym and I not sure but I think also a night club among other amendities.
