im in the military, i talked to someone i know who is out there in Iraq, about the civilian death
its basically like this
anyone and everyone is a potential enemy, its not like a regular war where u know who to fight
any body might attack, from kids to women
you know the cloak type things the women wear, they could have anything under there, a bomb, and gun.
just makes em stay on there feet more, im sorry to say this i would rather them kill someone on accident because if they didnt, maybe next time they hesistate and then its someone who really is a threat, and then US Soldiers die.
its a tough job, very easy for someone to talk shit when they arent over there only seeing what the media wants them to see

READ the article. It has NOTHING to do with what YOU are talking about.

^^ sorry, i posted before i read because ive seen this kind of post before and i assumed... i know assuming is bad.
but i was quick to back up the soldiers.

this situation is wrong, and those that are involved need to be punished big time
im sure brig time will be the end result
marines can very easily snap, i dont know why it is, i think between the bootcamp mind fuck and the things they see just slowly fuck there minds up

true story
my ship was in thailand (im pretty sure it was, i wasnt there but ive heard the story and its true)
anyways, a marine and a female sailor were at the beach, drinking, having a good time. pretty much out of no where the marine snapped and attacked the girl, bit off her nipples and was basically going ape shit on this girl, as he was dragging her to the water to do whatever he was planning, he was attacked by a couple of sailors and they knocked him out, he woke up in jail, and claims to have absolutly no memory of the situation.
anyways, this is just one example, marines sometimes snap, not that im saying that it is ok, but they do have to deal with a lot.
i hope justice is served, because we dont need people hating american troops more than they already do.

Murtha on Haditha: ‘I Know There Was a Cover-up … The Chain of Command Tried to Stifle the Story’ »

This morning on ABC’s Good Morning America, Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) said that U.S. officials learned of the alleged massacre of Iraqi civilians by U.S. forces in Haditha last November “a few days” after it happened and organized a cover-up:

MURTHA: This is what the Marine Corps told me at the highest level. The Commandant of the Marine Corps was in my office just last week, so you know. I know there was a cover-up someplace. They knew about this a few days afterwards and there’s no question the chain of command tried to stifle the story. I can understand why, but that doesn’t excuse it. Something like this has to be brought out to the public, and the people have to be punished.

Murtha was also asked whether he thought the alleged massacre would have been made public if not for the Time magazine investigation published in March (read Time’s new follow-up report) His response: “No, I do not think it would have come out, and it’s unfortunate because this is how you lose the Iraqi people.”

Just makes you wonder how many times something like this has happened. How many stories like this actually did get covered up?

Who are "the people of Iraq"?

Okay, its cool, someone in your state shot my cousin, ill go over there and kill some random people, all justified.....

Don't ever make the mistake of aggregating a whole society.

i dont believe it was the fact that there buddy died and they reacted with revenge, if you have never driven down the streets of iraq than you need to keep your god damn mouth shut, as soon as a convoy is hit its automatic to look for the trigger man. now ill what if this. if one man spots a trigger man and opens fire on him than im pretty sure the other marines seeing one of there own shooting at something they're going to do the same do or not knowing what the fuck is going on. say, your riding down the road and your hit by a big fucking explosion your not going to be free and clear, your going to be shooken up. and if there is any foul play in anything your pretty much fucked because the media will suck you dry like a fuckin mosquito. remember the tv only lets you see what they wanna show you.

Please read the articles that have been posted. I have never driven down the streets of Iraq (and if you did thats your fault for being a pawn), but what you are stating is NOT what has happened. This was MURDER, and nothing you nor a slave to the american government can say will eliminate the fact that over 20 innocent people (most women, children and elderly) were butchered by american soldiers who deserted their posts and behaved in vigilante fashion.

This was nothing but coldblooded murder. Violators should be tried to the full extent of the law.

However....Shiite walks into a Sunni mosque two months ago and kills 45 innocent people. Twin suicide bombers kill 99 people in Narbil, Iraq. Suicide bomb in Tal Afar kills 23 on the 9th of this month...etc, etc.

These soldiers need to be tried and hanged, but I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that the US military holds itself to a higher standard than insurgent forces.

We point to things like this and Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, etc. as proof that we are the supreme evil when in fact worse violations on nearly every count occur on the other side.

Yes, our military are adrenalized and foggy in times of war. Yes, we have and will continue to commit brutal murder. But to believe that we are qualitatively worse than insurgent forces because of the fuckups we hear and see is mental gymnastics.
