When B-Legit first got in the game he recorded vocals on half-inch reels, dropping his first maxi-single on vinyl only. This is back when hip-hop albums didn’t get released on CD’s, beepers looked more like garage door openers, and a cell-phone was a large box you carried over your shoulder. Legit is mentioned in that breath of old war-horse Bay Area MCs still recording. Along with Too Short, Hieroglyphics, and his cousin E-40, the old-school style is still going strong.
