bottom line, we need events like this constantly...point blank period. it is no secret that in the past we (the bay as a whole) fucked up alot of situations that could have been spun in our favor. so the powers that be and other active figures in the scene need to form a consistent community and union. it has still yet to happen...we have plenty of parties & video shoots & shit but never a meeting environment where we quation motives.
and to go back to what dcash was sayin...yes, the bottom line is that u r gonna have to eventually break bread with people---this is the music business. its exactly that, a business. learn the protocol, meet the key members, setup the plan & execute. it is frustrating as shit to see how many artist post up music or pump themselves up or have 80 artist homies with a myspace talkin about how they are gonna blow up and they dont know the business or any key players...who also dont even know them. networking is the bloodline of the game! you never fully know what & who other people know.
i honestly believe that every artist should come out to this..if u value ur career then come out. if u dont...well thats just re-affirming what every major key player thinks about the bay "they arent ready here" (actual quote & opinion of several industry figures attended the bay area rap summit in Nov 05&06)
i have the biggest love/hate relationship with the bay...it is very frustrating
so please come out, its $5 and a few hours of your time. me & daddy rich dont make no money off this, we are wealthy from our other ventures. we do this for the bay
