I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility, but I think it’s very unlikely. As I stated; it would be political suicide for the party who pushes it
CMONNNN NOW SIXX

The government could easily scare enough people into believing WWIII is going to break out by using propaganda and Americas lack of intelligence and current state of repression and fear. So you're telling me that if North Korea and Iran "Declared War" against the U.S and everyday on the news top officials talk about impending doom and "if this is a time when the citizens of the United States needed to come together and fight the axis of evil, NOW IS THE TIME" bullshit and bring up WWII veterans that they couldn't make enough people feel like a draft is neccasary???

I wont even ponder the question what about a draft. I dont think any of us have anything to worry about and maybe I am that comfortable about the posibility because I have a few easy outs.

Well you’re talking about ‘What If’ scenario’s now, comrade. I think we need to look at these possibilities logically. Iran and/or N. Korea are not going to declare war on the US. Their not in the position to and they would not benefit from a US war. The US wouldn’t benefit from it either. I'm not saying a draft isnt possible 20 years from now, but homeboy said within the next 5 years, which, to me is very far-fetched.

"No Vietnamese ever called me a nigger" - Ali[/QUOTE]

I always believed alis POV on them trying to draft him, but ive never agreed with that quote, they might not have ever said that to his face, but that dont mean they didnt have their own word for it, or let alone used it after hearing what it meant.

Is there a certain age limit where they wouldn't draft you? To me it seems like you guys are saying the only way around this is to hope tons of people dodge the draft in order not to be charged with a crime or flea the country would be the only options.

when there was a draft, the age limit was 26 or you had to be the only born male in your family (something to do with carrying the name on)
If you saw saving private ryan, the whole thing about that is that there were 5 brothers in the service, and 4 of them got taken out. so a squad had to go in, get the last surviving brother and escort him back to american soil to go home. and then some how all sorts of shit broke off and tom sizemore killin krauts left n right... and im totally getting off topic here.....

The point of the quote was that the Veitnamese never did any wrong to Ali and the US government did. Why would he fight against someone who is not his enemy?

Same principles apply today; what did Iraq ever do to you?

I would have felt the same way..why fight someone in Vietnam when I can barely get freedom in my own country? Why fight for the SAME cop or person that hates me because of the color of my skin....Vietnamese people might not have liked Americans, but them not liking me was NOT an immediate threat, but if white's(or any other race) didnt like me in America, then thatz an immediate threat....I applaud Ali for that....

Itz funny, because itz like "you(RACIST white's or racist people in general) want me to die for you, but you cant even respect me as a man and if it were up to you, you would probably want to keep my people in slavery..who are you kidding here?"...

till im 26, fuck no there better be no draft, after im 26, go right on ahead.....but for real, i dont see the draft happening, shit would have to get real crazy, and even then, like i think six said, (which is crazy for me agreeing with him), it would be political suicide.

I'm pretty much with the consensus on this. I'm not going to war started by any president (especially for dumbass Bush) for any reason. Whatever happened to freedom of choice? Getting drafting and going against your will doesn't seem very free to me. It don't seem right. Some people just aren't cut out for the military, and that's why they don't sign up, and the people that are gung ho for it, enlist into it. It's as simple as that. Fucka Bush, fucka war, and fuck the government. Independence on mine! :knockout:
