I didn't see anyone actually answer Kayvee's post...
I don't know any illegals on welfare, either.
I love the double-standards though, and not just on this board.
The quotes I've heard/read on television, the internet, newspapers, etc...
"Illegal immigrants are responsible for..." number of homicides, and ''Illegal immigrants bring in...'' such and such drug, and "Illegal immigrants don't pay taxes, don't work, and are a strain on the economy..."
I guess it's ok for this to pertain to you if you're legal.
If you were born here, kill a child, snort cocaine off of a Hot Pocket, don't pay taxes because you're ''slangin' in the hood/barrio", and rob people on the street.

I don't give a fuck who immigrates to our country, as long as they try to learn our culture. Which means make an attempt to learn the language (knowing Spanish and English makes you that much more marketable), get an education, and find a stable job.
Don't try to act like you're still in Mexico or wherever you came from and only speak Spanish with no attempt to learn English. Don't play down the value of education and let your child be a distraction in class who fucks it up for those who want to get an education and make a better life for themselves. And don't teach your kids that standing out in front of Home Depot, cutting lawns, and cleaning houses for minimum wage is a great job because you are making way more than you did in Mexico or wherever you came from. Teach your kids to value education because the more education you have the more money you will make in the future.
I have been working education for the past five years, both teaching and substitute teaching, and I am happy to meet these kids who are working their asses off in the classroom and find out that they came from another country. I tell them they have excellent parents because they want you to make a better life for yourself and you will thank them in the future when you get that college degree. Then I look over at the many more kids who also came from another country who have no structure at home and no value of education who are going to keep the hardworkers back by distracting them in the classroom.
I was over at my parent's house about two weeks ago on a weekday because I had the day off and was in the area. She had the lawn mower guy over. His son was also helping him, and his son looked no older than 13. I said to my mom, "Why isn't that kid in school?" She said, "I don't think he goes to school. He's over here helping his dad every time they cut the lawn." All I could do was shake my head in disgust. Then I overhear a conversation between my mom and the kid. The kid has to call his dad over to talk to my mom because the dad's "English" skills are better, but neither the father nor the son could speak English. Those are the types of immigrants that disgust me. That kid is going to grow up uneducated, very limited English skills, and will probably be a grass cutter and teach the same thing to his son.

What is America going to do when all the immigrants are gone and have to pay $10 for an apple and $20 for a head of lettuce???? Seriously what will you do? Produce will sky rocket 20x todays prices. What will you do? The lower class wont be able to afford it. Businesses will not profit. It will be the END of the American economy. Aint nobody gonna work in a field in the sun all damn day for less than $10. Would you?
I totally agree with you to a certain extent...
but some of these parents are afraid to send their kids to school due to INS/ICE ..
trust me..all the kids i know with parents that only speak spanish...they speak spanish/english as well..
a lot of these kids and certain people do get adapted to the american culture..not all though...
some just come to the u.s., they make their money to build their homes in their country..once they have achieved their goal...they go back to their country and never comeback..
