been hated on for saying the same exact thing you are....i cant tell you how true what you're saying is. when i came back to the bay, i was tryin to emphasize that the reason a lot of cats will only be bay artists is becuase they think locally, niggas care more about bein in the VIP at 17 and Loft 11 more than networkin with cats that will actually do something for their career. to make it in this business you need to think globally
Most of your newer "artists" nowadays are just attention whores. No business acumen at all.

Don't know what "acumen" means?

I UNDERSTAND THERE ARE A LOT OF RAPPERS AND BUSINESSMEN ON HERE GRINDING TRYING TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. I HAVE BEEN IN NY THE LAST FEW DAYS CHECKING THINGS OUT, ASKING QUESTIONS AND LEARNING SOOOO MUCH MORE ABOUT THE INDUSTRY I DIDN'T KNOW. HERE ARE SOME THINGS I HAVE NOTICED THAT MAY OR MAY NOT HELP SOME OF YOU OUT....

1. WAKE YOUR ASS UP!!!!!!

YOU WILL NEVER SURVIVE IN THIS GAME IF YOU WAKE UP AT 9AM..... KEEP IN MIND, WHEN YOU ARE HAVING A BOWL OF CEREAL AT 9AM IN THE BAY, ITS ALREADY NOON IN NEW YORK!!! LOL NIGGAS HAVE MADE MILLIONS BEFORE YOU EVEN PUT YOUR PANTS ON. SO IF YOU WANNA RUN WITH THE BIG DOGS AND DECISION MAKERS, GET IN THE HABIT OF WAKING UP ABOUT 6 OR 7 AM PACIFIC TIME......

2. YOU GOT TO GIVE A LITLLE TO GET A LITTLE

DEE, THE CEO OF RUFF RYDERS TOLD ME THE STORY OF HOW HE ORIGINALLY HAD MA$E, THE LOX, AND DMX. BUT AT THE TIME HE HAD MONEY, BUT NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE RAP GAME. HE WAS COOL WITH PUFF, SO HE GAVE PUFF MASE AND THE LOX. IN EXCHANGE, HE SAT IN ON THE WHOLE RECORDING AND BUSINESS PROCESS OF PUTTING THEM OUT UNDER PUFF. HE SAID PUFF TAUGHT HIM ALL THE TRICKS OF THE TRADE. HE TOOK THAT KNOWLEDGE AND APPLIED IT TO DMX AND IN THE END, DMX HAS SOLD ABOUT 25 MILLION WORLDWIDE. SO IN THE END, HE SACRIFICED HAVING MASE AND THE LOX, TO LEARN FROM ONE OF THE BEST EVER.......

3. STAY HUMBLE

NEVER FEEL LIKE YOU KNOW IT ALL......PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!!

number 1 is real shit man, good looks on sprinkling a little knowledge.

At Jetblue, you have to order your ticket a month ahead. Its 119 each way plus taxes. You get cable, snacks, and good customer service by some old bitches who couldn't getta job at Delta Airlines!

You can check out hostels. They are very cheap. The WhiteHouse Hotel and the Star Hotel are my two reccomendations (location/price).

NYC can be cheap if you do your research before you go. There's hella shit to do here for free and/or cheap (well, im in Cali on vacation but I currently reside in Brooklyn).

My last tip.... Take the subway. It's confusing at first, but well worth the 7.00 a day for unlimited. The train goes anywhere and everywhere you would need to go.

I juss wanted to say the Subway isn't that bad, contrary to popular belief. Seriously. Besides the crazy ass homeless people and people beggin you for money with these sad ass stories like "My house burned down and I losssssssst everything." All dramatic and shit. But sometimes random people will get on the train and do random acts to cops money like breakdancing onna moving train, playing a guitar and playing the harmonica simultaneously, etc.. It can be quite entertaining. Imma take a picture and post when I go back to New Yawk. THEY RUN ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NIGHT! Just some trains run slower after 12am and on weekends some trains don't run at all.

Another option: You can cop a telly in Brooklyn (Park Slope) and it will be much much cheaper then staying in Manhattan. Or you can even stay at a Bed & Breakfast. RESEARCH!
