ICE CUBE IS GOLD! AND MAKING HIS WAY BACK!

For those that don't know, Ice Cube is GOLD (or so close that he's still gold). I might add, that is 100% indie gold! I might add on top of that that Cube turned down a Dr. Dre deal and did the same numbers as Busta did (no disrespect). Anyway, I heard that Cube is fast at work on his next album for all you greedy gangstas. Word on the street is Cube's collecting tracks for the next opus. Pushin' rhymes like weight!

DOPE!!

yeah 40 is gold, but for Cube to go gold on an INDIE level is BIG!!

That's HIS bread....he IS the company.

Cats need to start mentioning Cube as one of the Greats.....longetivity, lyrics, street AND crossover appeal, business sense......yeah.....he's the man.

Doesnt matter. He SHIPPED gold, and in the RIAA's eyes, that is gold.

Someone in the BART forum made a thread about it being official. I dont care to look it up, but you are more than welcome if you odnt believe me. But it seems that you are the last person to know, cus everyone else here does.

E-40 is already RIAA certified gold, and has been for 2-3 months now.

I think thats bullshit.

Just because you have 500,000 cd shipped does not mean that your Gold.

Last Time I went to BestBuy there was like 25 copies of 2pac's - All Eyez on Me - So if no one buys them BUT they are still in the store and shipped out from the company does that mean that 2pac sold them and they will count for his total sales?

I dont think so.

Last time I checked Ice Cube was had SOLD(Maybe not shipped out) more copies of his cd than E40.

So if Cube just got Gold(real) I doubt E40 has made it yet. Maybe in 2-3 months he'll make Gold(real..gold).

How does that shit work?

If Best Buy receives 50 copies of the new Ice Cube album...didn't they buy them? Doesn't that count as a sell?

And then they turn around and sell them to us?

Bro, Ice Cube put his foot down with Laugh Now, Cry Later. Trust, it's some classic Cube shit.

E-40 didnt officially HIT GOLD - total album sales: 475,000+. 500,000 units shipped, but not sold
Yes, he did OFFICIALLY hit gold. When you SHIP 500,000 albums (the stores buy them BEFORE consumers, remember?) you are RIAA CERTIFIED GOLD. And that is ALL that matters in the music industry.

So is E-40 CERTIFIED GOLD? Yes. WILL HE RECIEVE A GOLD RECORD PLAQUE FOR GOING RIAA CERTIFIED GOLD? Yes.

This discussion is now OVER.

Homie, there is no "fake" gold plaques.

As i said before:

STORES BUY ALBUMS BEFORE THE CONSUMERS DO. THERE FOR, TECHNICALLY, IT COUNTS AS AN ALBUM SOLD.

From Wikipedia:

In the United States, the Recording Industry Association of America awards certification based on the number of albums and singles shipped to retail and other ancillary markets.Certification is not automatic; for an award to be made, the record label must pay a fee to have the sales of the recording audited. The audit is conducted against unit shipments (most often an artists' royalty statement is used), which includes albums sold directly to retailers and one-stops, direct to consumer sales (music clubs & mail order) and other outlets. Shipments that could potentially be returned to the label can not be counted.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RIAA_certification

Now, for those of you who dont know the music industry from a can of paint, stop speaking on it and continue to watch from the sidelines.

Thank you.

stores buy albums to re-sell. so to the person who said there's 25 pac cd's sitting at best buy, he sold them. well, whoever is in charge of his estate sold them. they are already bought, just waiting to be purchased again from the stores by the consumer. this is why tower is selling all those cd's for $1. they already bought them off the record company now they just need to get rid of them. they can't send them back for a refund.

but there are some stores (usually mom & pop stores or stores like Rasputin's) that have indie albums on cosignment, so the musician drops off the music, and then picks up a check after it sells.

E-40 still flopped bc his album been out since March and he had Lil Jon and major labels and Warner Bros' exspensive promo backing him up. while Cube dropped after E-40 and realeased his album independently on his own label and came out his own pocket on the makings of the videos and promo. So Ice Cube did damn good. Congradulations to him. and he going on tour this month in Canada.
