That's huge. Coming out of Minnesota, I'm not sure if you're familiar with our indie scene here (Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Doomtree, etc.), but it is huge here. Outside, not so much. On a track with P.O.S., Slug (of Atmosphere), talks about his album Se7en's Travels which was distributed by Epitaph, he said "Cats Vans Bags/Shit was lookin good/30 days later/the LP went wood." Now even though Cube has the name, it's still big time for an artist to sell gold on his own. How many sales were on iTunes?

I stopped being a Cube fan after Death Certificate but I'm glad he went independent. I heard Fat Joe went the same route. At some point every artist iz gonna go that route(i hope). Just like in the film bizz. Everyone iz doing str8 2 DVD filmz instead of trying 2 go thru Hollywood. Those are the DVD's I buy the most because the politics are usually eliminated & u get raw & uncut shit just like I like it. Plus the people behind INDE work get alot more in return & own all of there own shit.

E-40 didnt officially HIT GOLD - total album sales: 475,000+. 500,000 units shipped, but not sold
Ya'll need to get your facts right because soundscan only records the major retail sales like best buy, rasputins, etc.. It doesn't record the smaller mom and pop stores, amazon.com, CD universe, Itunes, streetshow, etc, etc, etc.. 40 has sold and shipped Gold along time ago, and you niggas need to quit holding on to soundscan numbers like an article of faith because the RIAA is what's official at the end of the day, 40 is Gold and so is Ice Cube. Cube went Gold like a week or two after 40 did..

E-40 still flopped bc his album been out since March and he had Lil Jon and major labels and Warner Bros' exspensive promo backing him up. while Cube dropped after E-40 and realeased his album independently on his own label and came out his own pocket on the makings of the videos and promo. So Ice Cube did damn good. Congradulations to him. and he going on tour this month in Canada.
Ice Cube is a legend, E-40 isn't. All Cube has to do is let people know he has an album out and they will buy it, 40 had to convince people, you don't know what you're talking about, Gold is far from a flop. Who in Cincinnati is selling over 400,000 records, let alone 1,000?
