....when rapping was left to the professionals.

OK, I'm over 30 years old which means I'm about as old as rap music itself. I have seen plenty of rappers come and go including the old school and the new school. Rap used to be interesting in the late 80's early 90's, now it seems like some regions are just bullshitting. I don't bump down south rap but at least they are making it fun with all the stupid songs about dancing and stuff. The Soldier Boy, Coffee Shop etc., some of them have realized that in order to move units and get mass radio play you have to appeal to the women and kids and dumb down your lyrics in addition to paying for spins, magazine ads and video play. Have you noticed the stupidest songs also have high quality videos to them ? Somebody has a formula or there is a group of dudes down south giving playa prices for major videos. Back to my point if you are not bring anything "new" and "exciting" to the rap game you should move to another section of rap like production, writing or artist development. If you're still rapping about killing people and slanging dope then you are outdated. If you're over 30, rapping and have not at least went Gold in your past projects, find some younger dudes to get behind like EA Ski did with Frontline to rejuvenate your career or just stop, young fans don't like the idea of their grandfathers rapping. I'm not saying EA Ski was washed up or didn't go Gold with any of his projects because I believe that he has gone Platinum with one of his singles before I think.

If you are grinding out your mixtapes, cut that shit out and put together a real cd, we're sick of those damn things. If you're rapping and you can't take negative criticism and want to fight everybody that says you suck, change your panties to boxer briefs and calm down everybody will not lie to you like you're the best thing since iPods.

This has been a message from a guy that has seen it, done it and stopped doing it because it wasn't fun anymore. Peace.

back in the day (up until 2003), the only people that put out albums were the ones that really wanted it, and were willing to work hard. This filtered out a lot of garbage that woulda came out othherwise.

i wish that the shitload of mediocre/bad rappers was enough motivation to make the skilled rappers try to stand out above the clutter...in reality, it usually means i gotta sift through more bullshit to find a decent CD. a part of me says, if there is ONE person out there thats really feelin what you do, then keep grinding. it's just sad that with so many horrible rappers out there yellin ay bay bay, nobody with skills can step up to the plate and outshine them...i'm high, sorry for rambling hahah...peace

Nobody cares, why? Because you'll get called a hater or an old man who's bitter. The fact of the matter remains, Hiphop is garbage now because everybody is out to make a fast dollar while they still can before it implodes.

another thing is, most bay music nowadays is mashed together. Not many individual styles left...
Everyone has the same person designing their covers, same features, watered down beats.
It used to be that each town had its own sound and vibe going, but thats not the case anymore

Thats cuz the shit coming out nowadays, the shit thats played all the time on the radio, isnt music. Its not. Young Joc, 50 cent, Jibbs, Huey, thats NOT FUCKING MUSIC! its money making bullshit. steam comes out of my ears when i hear shit like "wipe me down, " or "Pop lock and drop it". and what the fuck is up with everyone just saying the same shit as other people? i swear, "shawty", "two step", shit like that is said in every commercial song now, regardless of the shitty singer/rapper. This isnt rap music, its not real, it doesnt represent you or me, theres no connection to it. So stop fucking supporting it everyone. 50 cent is NOT MUSIC! why do people support "i get money? that shit sounds like a fuckin SNL skit. music nowadays is CORNY AS FUCK.

i was thinking about it, and none of this music sounds professional. it doesnt sound good. 5 years ago, NO ONE WOULD BE PUTTING UP WITH THIS SHIT! now we do because we're disillusioned, we've accepted all the shit we hear on the radio as whats HOT. good music is not being played on the radio. (and dont tell me it hasnt ever been.) where the fuck is a station that plays 90's rap? or anything OTHER Than the newest T-Pain song.

bottom line, Fuck Wild 94.9 i dont even consider that a hip hop station anymore.

and i cant fucking stand 106.1 anymore either. im astonished by the shit that they continue to play, and the way they play their music. They'll slap, consistently, shit you can see on tv all the time (T-pain), and play the entire song, but then the one bay song they play they either speed up, which is rediuclous, or they play 45 seconds of the song.

If i have to hear "bartender" at THE SAME TIME on both of those stations, im going to kill someone. STOP PLAYING THOSE SONGS LIKE THEYRE NEW!

when kanye outsells 50 on 9/11 it will be somewhat of a change in what type of essence "aspiring" artists will want to put in there music (originality).. as arrogant as he presents himself, his music is the only decent shit on the radio right now as far as lyrics.. that down south stuff is good club music, so of course itll get play.. but once lyricism gets is turn in mainstream, all the saturation will have no choice but to die down because itll be looked at as a joke and simplicity wont cut it anymore..

Music is an evolution. It keeps changing. If it were the same, then where would the originality and creativity come from? Shit if it were he same everything would be played the fuck out! How about we bring back 80's pop! Shit was crackin back then! How about some of The Wham - Wake Me Up Before You Go Go? That song is crackin son!

Ok what is real music to you? Rapping about how you're struggling in life to make it to the top? Nobody wants to hear that shit again. Music is selling because its fun. Fun music is for a new audience. The younger the audience, the more they sell. Thats how its been thats how it will continue. Its a business. Old folks aint gonna go out and buy a Soulja Boy record because he a kid and probably thinks its trash. But, the millions of kids on this planet will purchase his record. Old folks are really bitter about music these days. Stop the complaining and keep it moving.

Rap musis is a fad. Point blank. Do you really think you'll be listening to songs about hustling, drug dealing, killling, hoes, bling bling when your asses are 40-50 years old? Hell the fuck no!
you have not a clue what you are talking about, please never click on this thread again. thanks.

Amen, KMEL and 94.9 are Trash. They are like southern stations with a bay song that sounds like a southern song thrown in. I'm so sick of wack ass bay artists trying to sound southern with their "music". Shit is ridiculous, these simps are so desperate to make a dollar, they will sell their souls to the clear channel devils to make a dollar or two. Everything has become about, "Hiphop is a business who cares about the quality it's all about money". Desperate ass niggas, get a regular job, sell dope, go to college, something. Just stop making stupid ass excuses to make bullshit watered down lil jon bullshit trash.

I think Doc Truth hit it on the head. I am glad Hip Hop is imploding. Its a victim of itself. Let it burn and soffocate until it reinvents itself or something better comes along. Most of the people that do Hip Hop don't give a damn about the music they make, money is their motivation, and they ain't gonna sell until music is their motivation.

rite on. southern rap should be in a whole different genre. cus it ain't hip hop. fuk is up with this new generation dancing like some fruit cakes? then they say hip hop bla bla. u know that shit ain't hip hop mane. once corporations got involved rap got baddddd. I remember when I first started listening to Bay shit back in 89. I hadn't heard of ne1 and to a lot of folks it was humorous. nowadays they just shovin shit down ur throat. there is a shortage of real heads out there. I remember if you listened to some out of region shit u were a square. now mafukaz is runnin round talkin like they from the south. the bay ain't gonna be back until we modify our traditional steez. and if I hear one more mafuka talkin bout Lil Wayne got spitz...y'all gotta be kiddn. I know y'all tired of this simple shit. It's a shame when u gotta listen to shit from the past cus the current quality in muzik is so poor.

and i understand that this music is gonna be made and played on the radio, im not saying it shouldnt be made, but it shouldnt be DOMINATING rap music like it is. where are the wu tangs? the bone thugs? the big l's? where are REAL rappers? "Coffeeshop" is NOT RAP MUSIC. if they want to play it on the radio, fine, but dont play it like its the fuckin hottest shit around, cuz theres tons of other hot shit out there, you just have to look for it. the radio needs to stop catering to fans WHO ARENT REAL HIP HOP FANS. do these 13 year olds who buy young joc listen to murs? nah, but we let them dominate the music, oh, because they buy records.

its not raps fault that this has happened, its the people in charge, and the "fans."
