For me, the crazy hype and promo that "Tear Gas" had, negatively affected how I view the finished product. Shit I expected the greatest thing to come out the Bay in a decade because of all of the anticipation and hype this album got for three years. The album didn't live up to the hype. "Heart of the City" is was everything I expected it would be, that is why I prefer it over Tear Gas. Tear Gas is still a quality album, but because it didn't live up to the hype IMO, it comes off slightly worse than it is.
