I know most artists worry so much about hype and radio/TV play and what clubs is playing their songs, and it seems to me like Jack missed his spot awhile ago. Me personally, I don't care about how many people will be into it, if I like the artist I'll peep. And there's been so many dates that I'm not checking for it anymore. I'll only worry about picking it up when I see it in stores.
i WILL buy the jackas new album cuz i know he put out real shit.. but with that said
personally i think if the album aint gonna be released til june 9th why preview tracks now... 4 months out is waay too early imo.. we've seen this trend in not only the bay area but mainstream too (hence keak da sneak- thats my word, three 6 mafia- dope boy fresh etc)<-- these were actual singles vs previews but in my opinion.. same shit different day
im sayin (as a FAN) with 2 months and 3months at the max of SOLID promotion(preview tracks, shows, whatever) and hype (releasing a single whether street single or radio!!!) you should be good.
lil wayne did pretty much what i said except for he built his hype up wit mixtapes to hold people over.. which is what jacka already doin now. the street album was hot and im still playin it, (which btw had the all over me song which i THOUGHT was a single for tear gas)... with all the radio promotion and shows.. not to mention his other very recent projects..so basically, why rush!!!
so if you tryin to get heard in different regions and thats why you are early, i respect that.. but i hope to see some clips of mobtv on worldstar or somethin.. im really pushin for ya'll..
my pro and con of even previewing tracks at all this early
pro- if the shit is hot then its hot
con to my pro is if its hot, even if its a 20 second snippet ive already heard the beat, prolly the part of the hook or a few bars then when the album come out it aint fresh. when i get a new album i wanna here all fresh new shit at the same time. maybe im askin too much but when im askin too much is when i tell people bout the latest albums im feelin...

Forums are meant for stating opinions so that's exactly what i'm gonna do. Read this very clearly...I'M NOT HATING AT ALL so don't get my words misconstrued. I'm still a jacka fan and will cop the album when it finally drops. I'm just disappointed that's its been over a year since jack had his biggest single and buzz to date and tear gas still has been released. I mean he had a video and everything but it seems to me like it was all for not.
I don't care what anybody has to say. I been around this industry long enough to know that this was a very big missed opportunity. He had a chance to ride the tail end of the hyphy movement but now that movement is dead and nobody's checkin for the bay anymore. I expected more from him and his camp.
I always rooted for jacka because I think he could be one of those artist that can break into the mainstream and show a different side of the bay. I thought all over me was gonna be the kick that opened the door for him but it just didn't pan out like I hoped it would.
Consumers and fans are the most important thing to an artist. You have to be able to accept the praise as well the constructive criticism. At the end of the day without the fans you have nothing. Instead of getting defensive why not look at it and say "I don't wanna let my fans down so I'm gonna try not to ever again." Just some food for thought.

theefoe-everything you say is appreciated and pretty much agree with. I guess the only thing I can say is being small (indie) in the game limits things happening like they should(release timeline). I mean my life was always supposed to be a "timeline". My whole thing was not worrying about it, and going with the flow. May not always be the best, but i guess it is what it is..life aint easy.

i understand shit changes and need promo but it seems like there is no urgency to put out this album to make money, then use that money to make another album and make money off the next album. the album is going to sell the same in the bay pretty much regardless if you spend 5k on promo or 30k on promo. if your tryin to go national then the promo will help but people are going to buy it cus they like the jacka not cus they seen some flyers around town. but if he was to go on tour/radio stations across the country then i could see that helping a lot more.
