i got 1 - 512MB DDR2 PC2-4200/PC2-4300, 533MHz (i know pethtic)

so im gonna go to fry's and pick up some more, but anyways my question is, if i get memory with a higher MHz, lets say 800MHz will that be ok to run with my 533MHz stick?

also any recommendations on memory brands?

I believe if you combine the new stick with your old 533mhz stick the 800mhz stick is going to buffer down to the 533mhz speed. Another thing to remember is what is the front side bus of your processor. If the front side bus(FSB) is only 533MHZ and you get a 800Mhz memory chip, your spending pointless money on something your computer cant handle. The processor is only going to read the memory at the speed of the front side bus which in this case might very well be 533Mhz. Your running PC2-4200 though so I doubt FSB 533Mhz is your limit.

that dont mean nothin dude.. your card is probably crappin out cause you only got a 350w power supply. that card draws more power when it gets hotter to keep it goin strong. you got alot of power hungry shit and youve only got a 350w supply. when i beefed up my computer and rebuilt it about a year ago i had to up my power supply cause my shit would just randomly stall. and i had a 400w. i upped mine to a 600w and ive not had a single problem. might wanna address the low points in your system first and then address hardware and/or software failure after the fact.
