i knew there was a catch to jayz sellin all them damn records with the way sales are going his sound scan should have been low but 50 cent put him on front street in that new interview he did on shade 45 radio cuz jayz speant 10 to 18 mill on ads and other shit that had to do wit the album when u spend money like that u better put up some good number for real but it is what it is.

Regardless of what he puts out- he's going platinum. He's established and some many people think he's the best rapper alive.
700k records sold in a week is a hell of an accomplishment.

Same goes for 50 Cent and Em. Whatever LP they put out you know its going platinum in less than a month.

Anyone else know why Kingdom Come is scanning like a double album...? There is 2 discs on the one I bought, but I believe the other one is just a DVD...so why are his sales reflecting double album sales numbers..?


So technically, his album sold 340,000 in its first week, but since its a double ( supposedly ) it shows 680,000...


Whats up with this...?

NO, it doesnt work like that..the 680,000 is STILL the amount of records he sold BUT if it is counted as a 2Disc album then he has went plat already(since with a double CD all you need to sell is 500,000 copies)...The numbers dont change its the certification that changes...makes sense?

I dont know if it is a double CD because I dont have it nor have I seen it

Are you sure thats right? I thought the actual number doubles, so each sale of a double album counts as 2.

I dont think Kingdom Come is counted as a double CD anyway...

Ok..for example, Krayzie Bone's "Thug Mentality 1999" sold around 600,000 copies, BUT he has a platinum plaq because it was a 2Disc album...

Bizzy's Heaven's Movie sold a little more than Krayzie's TM 1999, but Bizzy's album was never certified plat because it was only a single disc album..

Double Disc album = an artists needs to sell 500,000 to be certified plat..

Maybe it has changed, but I am pretty sure this still applies..If I am wrong please excuse my out of date information, but last I heard it was this way..

i dont think Kindom Come is counted as a double CD either..Im sure 680,000 is in Jay's range for first week sales.....

Okay, real simple....

Each piece in a multi-album release counts as one unit towards certification. In addition, a multi-album release has to have a minimum run time of 100 minutes.

the album is hella weak
hope he sells bad and recognizes

but too bad i dont think so
guess he got enough other business so his album isnt even as important as albums are usually for rappers
