Damn!! Reminds me of your typical mega boxing fight with a Mexican boxer in the headliner. Lol the UFC sure knows how to sell their product.

"Why is Cain going to win?"

"CUZ HES FUCKEN MEXICAN!!"

I wouldn't mind seeing Cain Velasquez leave as the "new" UFC Heavyweight Champion, in fact I'd enjoy it. And I'd celebrate his victory by gettin' drunk outta my mind. Well shit, I plan on doin' that anyhow. Them PPVs don't end til midnight, so technically, it'll be October 24 (my bday) when its all said and done.

Truth be told, anyone other than Crock Lesnar with the HW title would be cool in my book.

I wouldn't call that amazing at all. It borders on impressive but it's definitely not as big as the hype for a mega boxing fight
That makes it even more impressive imo. How many mega boxing fights are there a year? 1? 2? It's easy to sell the shit out of a fight when the events are rare. UFC usually has around 14 ppvs a year and to keep people coming back every ppv paying $45, WHILE adding a whole new demographic to your audience is pretty impressive.

there are a lot of big boxing fights each year when it comes to the mexican community though.

For the general public or whatever, yeah boxing only has a couple big fights a year. But Mexcian's go crazy over the many great Mexican boxers.

Not trying to downplay Cain though, I think it's great for him. I fucking hate brock and hope he smashes him.

half mexican, half puerto rican. former ufc heavyweight champ. all this "1st mexican heaveyweight champ" shit is hype.
u kno i was finding myself asking that shit too... but i figured maybe bc hes 1/2 and 1/2 he might not be the first FULL mexican champ.... but i guess the UFC knows nobody cared wen Ricco was champ LOL... well new fans dunno that....

Why in all the commercials for the PPV do they have a Mexican flag over the UFC logo, when Cain was born in the US? I understand they're probably trying to cater to Mexican-American's but, he wasn't born there...

Obviously they are trying to appeal to Mexican's.

That's it really, they want a Mexican fanbase which means $$$$$$$$$$

just because they have that many ppv's doesn't make it impressive that people showed up for a mexican fighter? They don't have mega boxing event ppv #'s with almost all of their ppv events, even for their biggest cards.

They're definitely appealing to the Mexicans by putting the flag on there though, it's all cash. You also have to think about, what if he wins? He's gonna need a fanbase if they want to feature the next "baddest man on the planet" as a ppv headliner. It's business wise

they do that everywhere where though. I mean Sergio Mora (vs shane mosley) was heavily marketed as being "the pride of Mexico" and who was "fighting for 200 years of Mexican independence" and that fool was born in the US and is only half latino. I don't even think he has any Mexican in him lol. The Latin Fake. They also said MILLIONS of Mexicans were behind him when I seriously doubt any Mexican's in Mexico even heard of him!

Any promotional angle including Mexico and they'll use it. Doesn't matter what the sport. Like mark sanchez in the NFL etc

I personally know NO Mexicans that were pulling for him to win. More ppv buys were probably sold on Alvarez being on the card
