The problem is you and others need to open your homes and welcome these under privileged folks into a loving environment. People such as you and I are very blessed and once you open your home and heart to these people they will see the light of God. When God is in the lives of these people they will continue to better themselves and spread the word. God is good.

Peace and blessings.

I was workin' on 1st AVE across from The Mission tha other day and yes, there are hella homeless folkz. One was diggin' thru a dumpster and then started beating tha shit outta it. It was entertaining.
I drive by there a lot when I'm driving around dropping shit off when i'm at work....just one of the many thing i have to do...

i got a copy of real change last week, and read some of it, there were actually a couple good articles...and the dude i got it from actually knew about it cause i asked him some questions.

you never know though, one of those homeless people might really be filthy rich and just doin that shit to do it cause they can.

I've lived/worked in downtown for years now and the second it starts getting a little nicer out and closer to spring/summer the bum population seems to triple. It happens every year. I guess compared to a lot of big cities Seattle is pretty lenient on pan handling, etc. That's probably the reason why.

Approx 1 in 4 homeless are veterans.

approx 1 in 4 homeless are products of foster care

approx 1 in 4 homeless suffer from moderate to severe mental illness
http://www.nationalhomeless.org/publications/facts/Mental_Illness.pdf

not sure the percentage if we were to intersect the two on a ven diagram.

Here's a fun little story, we go into a war against terror all over the middle east and spend 12 billion a month, at the same time, our dickhead asshole president cuts taxes and in turn cuts funding to programs that can provide services to our homeless, we create more homeless by shipping them to the desert to witness some ill shit, then the average american calls all homeless shiftless leaches, and lets the perception of a few 'nickle & dime' hustlers who exploit peoples kindness represent the entire homeless population, b/c it makes it validates their excuse to say fuck them, they ain't gettin' none of my chips....

remember folks, the more you give the more you get....

my friend's Dad was homeless in Seattle for a couple weeks when he was making his way up to Alaska back in the early 90s. I guess he was saying they got cut a check every friday or thursday so they could get booze...

which I guess is a good thing to have when you're homeless.

But just so ya'll are aware, I remember in 2005 Detroit was the most homeless city in the U.S.

and I honestly doubt if that's changed at all.
