I just got my 60gb Maxtor hard drive today for $60 on Ebay. I plugged the hard drive into my ps2 network adapter, slid it in and turned it on. Then I put in HDloader, it said to agree, then it had to format the hdd, took a few secs and it was ready. I then went to install game and it asked to put in the game, i put in live 2004, it asked to nane it then began copying it. It took about 20-25 mins. This game was 3gb in size so I believe thats one of the largest. After it was done I started up my ps2 with just hdloader in the drive and played the game it worked perfectly. Loading times seem to be the same, maybe a lil bit faster. But overall this was a GREAT purchase. I paid $60 for the hdd, and likke 30-40 for hdloader so I'll be getting my moneys worth. You can probly get hdloader cheaper now on Ebay.

This is a must get for avid PS2 users.

Ummmm how hard can it be to keep it cleaned. Before you have hdloader you havta worry about ALL your ps2 games not being scratched, now you just got 1. Just get a disc doctor to fix the scratches anyways. And yeah you can just get it off the internet now.

I'll tell you when I'm done downloading it...

Edit --- It's just a regular cd-rom image... I haven't tested it yet, but I know it's a cd-rom image.

so you can...

you can use any hard drive and the HD loader will make the hard drive work on your ps2. I was skeptical cus i thought you had to have the hard drive formatted already but if you can buy any hard drive and have HD loader format it that is tight.

Max you can have is 120. I put Live and Manhunt on there so far and Manhunt is 4gb and live is 3gb so ill get 15-20 games but I'm really into only a few games at one time, usually only 1 game. I got my hdloader from a link on www.hdloader.com but if i were you I'd just get it on ebay. Itd be cheaper. Also they reccomend Maxtor hard drives on www.hdloader.com. They also say there has been a few problems with seagates so just read on the faq's.

The questions is can you still play online with the games your saving to the drive? If thats the case hit the video store and rent hella games and save em to your machine. That would be tight!

Yup^^^^. It's real easy, you just click 1 thing in the menu.

And I do believe you can play online, I'll test it later on to make sure.

To install a game you start up HD, it brings you to the main menu. You click install and insert the disc and name it. REAL SIMPLE.

nope , from hdloader.com :

"DNAS Compatibility:

DNAS (Dynamic Network Authentication System) is an authentication system used in all recent online capable PS2 game titles. It is used for a number of things - for example, checking if you are using a backup of a game or a modchip. In this case the check takes place when you go online with the game. If a backup or modchip is detected then DNAS authentication will fail and you will not be able to play the game online. You cannot go online with a DNAS enabled game unless the DNAS authentication is successful.

When HDLoader is used to play a DNAS enabled game, any attempt to go online will be unsuccessful as the DNAS authentication will FAIL. There is currently no way around this, other than to use your original game disc to play the game online.

from www.hdloader.com

"Hard Disk Drive Compatibility:

HDLoader is compatible with all official Sony PS2 INTERNAL hard disk drives,
and most other standard IDE hard disk drives with a capacity of 40GB or larger. Most Western Digital drives do not physically fit onto the PS2 network adapter wihout some modification, so we recommend that you stay clear of this brand. There are also issues with some modern Segate drives, which cause problems when used in conjunction with older models of the official Sony PS2 network adapter. We recommend using a Maxtor brand HDD with HDLoader."
