1. Malones scoring capability is irrelevant. Do you think that with Bryant and O'neal on the same floor, that it matters if Malone drops 30? No it doesn't. He is averaging 10 boards and almost a pair of steals in the playoffs, not to mention his 18 points per game.
2. Kobe is throwing up 30 shots per game... right. You might want to check up on that statboy. Of course you were exagerating, because of this notion that he is suuuuuch a selfish player. But did you know that he averaged 18 shots a game this season? That is extremely low for a player of his calibur.
3. Now as for the best center in the league. So you believe that because we have the best center in the league, that we should pass him the ball every time... is this what you're saying? Tell me exactly, from a hypothetical coaching standpoint, that giving the ball repeatidly to a player who shoots the ball in the most vulnerable position (to get fouled) yet is shooting 29% from the line in this post season, is going to put our team in the winners circle? If Duncan is guarding him, or someone important, then yes, give him the ball, every.. single.. time. But when the other coach is puting nobodies on Shaq, and they throw him the ball, he is going to get fouled every single time. We are going to foul out useless oponents, and give up free points as we watch him ding the ball off the rim.
Ha! 24.4 points per game says you're wrong. He might be shooting around 40% from the field against Mobley, but look how many times he went to the line in the process.
