^^^ fuck no, the Bears had a great defense and the Niners would not have been scoring points with ease against that defense. 85 Bears had Walter Peyton do you know who that is Tony lol?

Terry Bradshaw made his famous prediction: "There is no way the 49ers can lose. It could be 55-3 by halftime." He wasn't far off the mark. The 49ers led by 27-3 at the half, and went on to win 55-10.
94 Niners
Steve Young
Ricky Watters
William Floyd
Jerry Rice
John Taylor
Brent Jones
Ed McCaffrey
Dexter Carter
Merton Hanks
Deion Sanders
Tim McDonald
Gary Plummer
Ken Norton Jr.
Dana Stubblefield
bryant young
George Siefert or Walsh>Ditka
Steve Young or Montana>McMahon
Jerry Rice>any reciever in the history of the nfl, but since we talking about the bears. well better then anything they have on offense.
I just dont see how someone can see Steve Young or Montana having jerry rice and losing the game! the niners were way too stacked! THE REAL QUESTION SHOULD BE BETWEEN THE 94 NINERS AND THE 89 NINERS.
94 Niners-49ers scored 131 points -- an average of 43.7 a game and i believe the defense was ranked 5th in the league. not too bad for a team putting up 40 plus a game
FUCK THE BEARS!
THREAD!
Yeah now that would be a debate (94 Niners vs 89 Niners) should play that out on Madden.
@T-Rip, man I know who Walter Payton is. He alone woulnd't have beat the 89 Niners. The 89 Niners offense was a damn machine bro.... Rice and Montana were in their primes and defenses couldn't stop the west coast offense back then. The Niners used every offensive player they could in their passing game.... They had Rathman coming out of the backfield catching passes.... Singletary wouldn't know who to cover.
Montana to Rice couldn't be stopped and if you tried too hard John Taylor and Brent Jones would of eatin them up. It would have been a case of pick your poison. And the Niners had defense back then too.... Ronnie Lott/Charles Haley!
^^defense wins games. And dont' forget who was the defensive coach on da bears, buddy ryan, he was the genius that revolutionized the 46 defense in the first place. Thats why da bears were so dominating.
montana would not have the time to get the pass off. watch any of the film from the 85 bears and watch what they did to the offense.
Sure, 49ner's had rice, but with that defense it wouldn't have mattered. And da bears did have willie gault, not to bad himself in his prime.
This is what da bears defense did to good offensive teams:
^^^look how fast they get to the QB, against GOOD offensive linemen! They are at the QB within 1 to 2 seconds. Teams had to have their QB's like 7 yards back in shotgun formation, practically PUNT formation just to buy them time and they would still get sacked. Nothing but hall of famers on that defense, richard dent, mike singletary, etc etc etc And they were all in their primes.
Joe montana would not be able to survive that kind of attack. Shit, da bears were the perfect team that year. The only loss they have on their record was because jim McMahon was injured that game, and his back up was injured and rookie mike tomzack has to play (and he played like shit).
Here is a vid about their defense in general. They shut teams down.
^^^Not only did da bears defense dominate teams, they humiliated them!! They're Takeaway/Giveaway Differential was +23. They scored 28+ points per game and their defense allowed 11 points. In the post season, including the superbowl, they outscored their three opponents 91-10. That's two shutouts and the patriots managed to score 10 points in garbage time. They had 9 pro bowlers and 5 (maybe more) hall of famers on that team. And 7 players from that team went on to become head coaches.

the genral consensus used to be that walter payton was the best running back ever so whats your point?
my point is the 85 bears team was sicc! but nobody was fucken with montana in the 80's, especially 89. i think are coaching staff and players are better. Where would the game be held at though? If its in the snow the bears might have a chance.
so was da bears offense though. Everyone talks about their defense but their offense was sick too, Walter Payton had over 2,000 yards rushing/receiving alone. They averaged almost 30 points a game.
@206, Yeah I know about Buddy Ryan and his 4-6 defense. Back when Buddy Ryan was running that system in Philly with the Eagles, they were blitzing the shit out of Montana in one game.... they knocked him out. And then Montana came back in that same game and hit that 4-6 Buddy Ryan defense up for 5 TD's. Count em... 5! And that's when the Eagles had Reggie White. The Eagles defense wasn't no joke back then either.
the 85 bears offense was mediocre at best...they had walter payton and that was it....saying they were the best team off all time is like saying the 2000 ravens is the 2nd best of all time...
and the 13 people who voted for the 94 9ers over the 89 team is pretty delusional...

LMAO. Look at the season numbers. They averaged almost 30 points a game. And saying "they only had walter payton" as if payton was some chump. He had over 2,000 yards that season!
But this is what happens when I'm talking to a bunch of people from the bay. You guys have never even seen an '85 bears game, probably only read about them.
I remember watching the Bears back then.... they were deep no doubt about it. William Perry ,Wilbur Marshall, Richard Dent, Hampton #99, Singletary, Willie Gault,.... they had a squad. But they were one year wonders! It would have been a good game between the 89 Niners and 85 Bears but I don't see the 49ers (with Rice and Montana in their primes clicking the way they were clicking) losing to the 85 Bears. Prime Montana and Rice couldn't be stopped. They damn near won 3 SuperBowls in a row (if Rodger Craig didn't fumble)
^^oh yeah you remember watching them in 85?? How old were you??? 4?
See, I have almost the entire season on VHS. I'm studied that shit. I've never, ever seen a team dominate as badly as da bears have.
And so what if they were one and done? This thread isn't the greatest franchise ever, or the greatest dynasty. This is about the best team in a season ever, hence the year placed next to the teams in the poll.
And there are multiple reasons why they were one and done - Buddy Ryan left the team after the superbowl. That's the most important. Injuries - Jim McMahon was never the same, his career was plagued with injuries he never played a whole season. Walter Payton getting old, etc.
I got love for Ronnie Lott, but I'll take Deion Sanders. Who ever Deion covered was taken completely out of the game (except for Rice). If Deion was covering you, forget about the ball being thrown your way. You would have had better success running towards his side than throwing to his side.
