it is when he tries tho. u cant blame him when the many breakdowns in defense arent usually his fault. watching other people get walked is depressing and deflating. turiaf had the intensity team boost when he was on the floor - guys gave a lot more effort on defense with him.
the other thing, is that monta has to carry us offensively and play the most minutes per game in the league.
the other other thing, is that he usually guards a bigger stronger guy thats usually 1 of the other teams best players.
if monta played the point full time (and we had a capable 2 guard next to him obviosuly), his defense could be tremendous on other point guards.

they would open a lot more for each other by playing together, but also the rest of the team.
carmelo and monta demand so much attention that other guys will get better looks.
there was an article showing the shooting percentages of players that played with carmelo and without him. almost every players percentages went up considerably playing with melo.
the thing that kills it for me with melo, is the question of where the fuck he wants to be and play.
Monta, D-Wright, Melo, D Lee could be an insane lineup with a center that can grab boards and protect the rim.
but theres also a plus side to if he didnt want the extension with us, and thats that we have major fucking salary cap money for next year.
whatever happens i just want to keep Monta. melo or no melo.
