they can't get Yao, so they gonna get Lin !!! Reminds me of Demarcus Nelson 2 years ago....but Lin won't be in the starting line up opening nite lol....that was ridiculous. Lee injury should not be that bad...letting Morrow and CJ go is hard because they played well and were fan favorites, but over 20 million on backups that you don't how much time will be available is a lil too much....even these days with what bench guys are getting paid...at least they are going to east so we only play them 2 times so they can't torch us like every other former player !!! go dubs....

David Lee injured his right middle finger Tuesday during his first practice with Team USA, an injury significant enough that he planned to immediately fly back to Oakland to be examined by the Golden State Warriors' medical staff. Lee said the injury occurred when he went up to block a shot and jammed his finger against the bottom of the backboard. "I looked down and my finger was completely turned to the side," Lee said. "It's possibly a tendon or a dislocation of some sort. It's something I've got to go have looked at either way.

A Western Conference scout said of Lin's play in Las Vegas: "He showed that he can be an NBA point guard. He showed us he can finish, defend and has above-average athleticism."

The Golden State Warriors are closing in on signing summer-league sensation Jeremy Lin, according to sources with knowledge of the talks. Sources told ESPN.com on Tuesday that the Warriors, by offering to guarantee more than half of Lin's potential first-year salary of nearly $500,000, have reached an agreement in principle with the point guard from Harvard.

didnt we already have acie law at one point? what the fuck is that?

edit:

Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports reports that David Lee (finger) won't need surgery, but will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks.
Great news for the Warriors. Lee won't play for the U.S. at the World Championships, but should have plenty of time to get ready for the regular season.

Sitting alone in a chair in front of the Warriors banner, facing down a throng of cameras and tape recorders Wednesday, rookie guard Jeremy Lin didn't look as cool and poised as he does on the court. The newest Golden State Warrior, instead, looked like somebody trying to be poised even though he had just fulfilled his dream. He looked like someone still trying to process seeing his name tag in the locker room of his favorite team. Still trying to grasp the stir his signing has caused. "I don't think I've ever been a part of something like this before," Lin, a Palo Alto native, said from the players' lounge at the Warriors downtown facility. "This is unbelievable. Words can't really express my feelings right now and how happy I am and how grateful I am. This is crazy."

The Chicago Bulls announced today that the team has acquired the signed-and-traded contract of guard C.J. Watson from the Golden State Warriors in exchange for a future second-round draft choice. Golden State will be receiving the lesser of Phoenix’s and Utah’s regular 2011 second- round draft choices, both of which are held by the Bulls.

Riley said he has been in consistent dialogue with George, who has expressed his desire to return to Golden State. The Warriors have also been in contact with Tolliver and will talk to his agent again today. "I'm looking for experience," Riley said. "I don't want to go get guys who haven't played in the NBA or who don't have NBA experience.

Stephen Curry Meets New Owners Today

By Marcus Thompson
Friday, July 23rd, 2010 at 8:00 am in Uncategorized.

I caught up with Warriors point guard Stephen Curry, who is in Las Vegas for Team USA training camp. Curry has a good chance of making team as one of the most consistent shooters in camp. If he does, he will play in the World Championships in Turkey next month. The last Warrior to represent the U.S. was Chris Mullin on the Dream Team.

I got his opinion on various Warriors topics. He did say he is supposed to meet with new owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber on Friday at a Team USA function. He said he hasn’t heard from them yet, but looks forward to talking with him. Tried to find out if he would suggest any front-office moves, but he wouldn’t bite. Anyway, Curry’s take on a few things …

How is the Team USA experience so far?

A lot of fun. The talent out here is ridiculous. I’m just trying to find what my role is and learn the system on the go. It’s a great experience. They need somebody who can shoot the ball, so I’m going to try to provide that.

Are you more confident you can make the team after a few days of camp?

I came out here with the expectation of making the team, so I am not more confident. I didn’t come out here with the mindset of I’ma practice for a few days and then see you later.

What do you think about the Warriors’ continued problems with injuries?

I don’t know what to say about the curse of the logo, man. It’s kind of crazy. David Lee’s first practice as a Warrior, he gets hurt. Thankfully his won’t last until training camp or anything. I think it definitely hurts to have Ekpe out for so long, especially with it being his first year. But I think we’ll be all right once we figure out all the pieces that are left to fill our roster.

What do you say to fans worried you might get hurt playing internationally?

Anytime you suit up, even if I’m working out, there’s going to be a risk. I guess it is more of a risk if I’m overseas playing full-competition games in the summer time. But I think the risk is definitely worth it just based on what I’m going to get out of it, playing at this level in the summer time instead of just working out. So I would tell everybody I think I’m going to be a lot better player. I’m taking care of my body. I’m not an above-the-rim guy anyway. You don’t get hurt on the 3-point line.

What do you think of the moves your team has made?

I kind of have two separate emotions. You see all these moves with guys that I’ve built relationships with this year. We’ve had our ups-and-downs together through such a long year, especially all the young guys. To see C.J. and Morrow, Ronny and Randolph and all those guys leave, it’s kind of tough. On the other side, you add David Lee, an All-Star who will definitely help our team out. Dorell Wright can guard the three spot like we didn’t have last year at all. So I’m happy that we’re trying to make moves to get our team in the right spot. I know they had a lot of expectations to sign C.J. and Ant back. But it was one of those things where they deserved a lot of money and they got it.

You more confident you and Monta can succeed as backcourt?

Definitely. We had our ups and downs this year trying to play together. I told him before we left that the chemistry we had toward the end of the year was solid and hopefully the summer doesn’t kill that. Adding David Lee as another threat to our starting lineup will hopefully get us where we want to be. Monta, we all know how talented he is and how much he wants to win. So as long as we all come back healthy and ready in training camp, I think we’ll be fine.

Feeling the pressure of being the franchise guy yet?

I’m just going out there playing and whatever my role is on the team, I’m going to take it. It’s not me trying to be the man on the team or trying to be the face of the Warriors or anything like that. It takes more than one person to win. I know there were a lot of talks that I was the only one that wasn’t up to be traded or anything like that, which may be true. But that is not going to last if come into training camp behind. even the last thing on my mind. I’m just going out there to play with the lineup we have and do what I do.

What do you think of the new owners?

For them to spend that much money on the franchise means they’re dedicated. Hopefully they’ve got more in the tank, that they have ideas and a direction for where they want to go with the team. It’s a lot to spend $450 million on a team. Hopefully, they’re involved and real personable with the team. I think they have some experience — with Lacob being part of the Celtics — and they understand that how great a fan base the Bay Area is and what kind of team and market we can have if everything falls into place. So I’m looking forward to meeting them and seeing what kind of direction they have for us.

In five years, we’ll make (their money) back for them. Watch.

Were you surprised that Peter Gruber's ownership group recently outmaneuvered Larry Ellison for the Warriors? Joe Maloof: No, that was a fair price ($450 million) for both sides. You can't go into these situations looking for bargains. That was the mistake we made before we bought the Kings. Want to hear a story? We tried to buy nine, 10 teams, and we kept looking for a good business deal. And nothing was happening. Our younger brother Phil finally told us, "Pay more than the other guy and get your team." That's what we did when we bought the Kings. And, really, it's so much fun …

I returned to Sac before Saturday's Blue-White scrimmage, but was told that Warriors general manager Larry Riley watched the exhibition in the Thomas & Mack arena - accompanied by members of the incoming ownership group. Both Riley and head coach Don Nelson expected to be fired if owner Chris Cohan - as had long been predicted - accepted Larry Ellison's bid. Instead, Cohan shocked the world (ok, the Bay Area) and went with an ownership group headed by Celtics minority owner Joe Lacob and Mandalay Entertainment CEO Peter Guber. Surely money had something to do with it. Lacob and Guber submitted their $450 million bid weeks before Ellison recognized the duo as a serious threat and increased his offering from $401 million to approximately $500 million. Too late. As for Riley and Nelson, their odds improve with every day that passes before training camp opens.

Dont expect anything this season. They technically dont even own the team until the end of September. All the moves this off-season have been under the Cohan umbrella, only the Lee trade was under the supervision of the new owners. They dont have a predetermined front office to plug in, theyre not going to tear this one apart right before this year. Lacob and Guber are looking to turn the warriors into the premier westcoast franchise over time, not jimmy-rig a team together to make the playoffs once. I wouldnt hold my breath for any major trades or front office replacements until next offseason...
