JT YOU HAVEN'T RELEASES ANYTHING WORTH LISTENING TO IN 8 YEARS. STOP THINKING THAT YOU'RE A BOSS, OR SOME GREAT ARTIST. YOU HAD ONE HIT SINGLE AND THAT'S IT. REAL TALK. YOU AIN'T DOING "BIG THANGS" YOU AIN'T DOING SHIT, EXCEPT TALKING SHIT, AND RIPPING FOOLS OFF. I HAVEN'T GOTTEN RIPPED OFF, YOU KNOW WHY? BECAUSE I HAVEN'T BOTHERED TO WASTE MY MONEY ON ANY SHIT YOU DO, BECAUSE IT'S ALL GARBAGE, AND NOW I'M WASTING MY TIME. CAN WE STOP HAVING THREADS ABOUT CLOWN "JT THE BIGGA FIGGA"?
1). "JT hasn't released anything worth listening to in 8 years?!?" 8 years--that would be 1995-2003.
Granted, Get Low has done CDs that I haven't been crazy about--and I'm a fan (LOL!) But this statement is asinine and mush-headed, son. "It's ALL garbage?!?" I don't think so:
1995--Get Low dropped two CDs that are considered Bay classics: JT's DWELLIN IN THE LABB and San Quinn's THE HUSTLE CONTINUES! How can you say these are not worth listening to?
1997/98--GLP's THE PACKAGE was dope and the FILLMOE 2 HUNTER'S POINT comp was solid all the way through. Not to mention that JT united rappers from two sections that have had problems getting along (Black C. talked about this in MURDER DOG once). JT, Quinn, The Gamblaz, Seff, Messy Marv, The Cold World Hustlers, Taydatay, Don P., C-Bo (speaking) and Fly Nate The Banksta were all on this CD, and came with it! What more could you ask for?
2000--JT's SOMETHING CRUCIAL was polished and meaningful, with nice features from Killa Tay, Steady Mobbin', and several others. The Gamblaz's GHETTO PLATINUM was a nice debut with cool features (Fully Loaded and Willie Hen, especially), and The GLP's FAMILY BUSINESS was a good lyrical display between JT and Quinn. It was like they hadn't missed a beat...
2001--JT's two collabs with Daz (LONGBEACH 2 FILLMOE and GAME 4 SALE) were well worth copping, and it's a shame that Daz ruined things this year by being a meatball--both CDs had some tight cuts, and it was cool hearing Daz rap alongside Quinn, Telly Mac, E-40, C-Bo, etc. Good production on both CDs as well.
2002--JT's HUSTLE RELENTLESS was dope (more great appearances: Guce, Ray Luv, Sean T., Big Rich, etc.) as were AUTHENTIC's SOLO ALBUM (real lyrical depth displayed by Devo)and JT and The Gamblaz's KNOW ABOUT IT (which had a strong, pass-the-mic lyrical vibe). Telly Mac and Seff's solos were good, if not great (Telly's could have been better produced, but lyrically he was on point, and Seff's was a little too short, but otherwise...) Don't forget that Get Low put out M.O.G's (with Sean T) STILL EXPOSED CD (not sure about the title). Re-Akt, Sean T and Papoose brought heat...
2003--D-Moe's GHOST WRITER was solid, JT's PROJECT POETRY was his first "real" solo in years (minimal features), The Game's Mixtape is hot, and The Gamblaz new one features great production from BART's own Mal Amazing! Not to mention a nice debut from Game Inflikted (THE CHRONICLES).
"It's ALL garbage?" I don't think so, kiddo. There have been Get Low releases I wasn't thrilled with (some of the compilations in particular), but to say it's ALL garbage is just wacko, IMHO.
Oh yeah, about your statement of JT only having one hit: maybe the only "hit" JT had (in terms of radio and/or video play) was "Game Recognize Game", but any music critic worth his/her salt will tell you that hits alone is NEVER a sufficient gauge to measure artistic greatness. Just because MTV and BET don't play your music doesn't mean that you're insignificant. Many of the best Rap, Rock, Jazz and Blues and Classical artists NEVER had "hits" (in terms of radio or video play), but are considered musical giants. If "hits" were the only measure of an artist's greatness, many Rock, Jazz, Blues and Opera singers (much less rappers) wouldn't exist--and many classical musicians would be out of a job! Do you know how uneducated you sound making statements like this?!?
Don't get it twisted--I don't work for JT, and JT doesn't need me or anyone else defending him, and there are Get Low CDs I just plain wasn't feeling, but when I see immature, babyfied, kindergarten-level statements like this on the BART board, I feel I have to set the record straight. Let's keep it cool and copacetic, folks.
As for you, Wheeler, you've got a LOT of growing up to do. And as Dubee would say, "Bye-bye, now!"
PEACE!
