Colts will still go to the Superbowl regardless but this one hurts.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Colts star defensive end Dwight Freeney will miss the rest of the season after being place on injured reserve Wednesday with a foot injury.

Freeney, the three-time Pro Bowler, is the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL. He injured his left foot in Sunday's loss to San Diego and was diagnosed with a Lisfranc injury that may require surgery.

Simeon Rice, who the Colts claimed off waivers Monday from Denver, was expected to practice Wednesday with the team.

Stacks of Sacks

Only Jason Taylor has more sacks than Dwight Freeney since 2002, Freeney's rookie season.
Most sacks since 2002 Player Sacks
Jason Taylor 70.5
Dwight Freeney 60
Simeon Rice 59.5
Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila 57.7
Aaron Schobel 56.5
Players who have suffered Lisfranc injuries, even those not needing surgical repair, have needed months to rehabilitate.

Freeney experienced a lot of pain Sunday when he suffered the injury. He had to be carted to the locker room and left Qualcomm Stadium wearing a boot. He told friends he could have been hurt when a Chargers blocker stepped on his foot when he was making a spin move.

Indianapolis also placed backup linebacker Victor Worsley on injured reserve.

Tony Dungy was scheduled to talk about the injuries later Wednesday.

ESPN.com senior NFL writer John Clayton and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

They wont be missing shit the rest of this year.

He has been CRAP...all year.

they will be just fine. He's not at the top of ANY defensive team category for the Colts. Hell tackles he is nowhere near, and sacks (he's a pass rush specialist) he isn't even #1 on team.....how are they going to replace 3.5 sacks???

because of his presence makes qb's throw it quicker and less precise, gives ppl more opportunity's on his team to get sacks cause he would be double teamed. beleive me stats aint everything when u have a presence like freeney, looks like if pats face him again tom brady wont have much problems anymore hahaha, colts losin everybody and pats are undefeated, anyone realize this is exact flip around from previous seasons but when we lost ppl we also started losin chances for superbowls so uh oh

freeney's presence allows others to get sacks.. Teams are defending him now. But he was on pace for a better season than last. And he also really picked it up in the playoffs last year.
