that shit was a game changer in both of those cities for whatever reason. Shit barely made a blip in NYC (Showboys were from Queens) but laid the foundation for those two Southern cities in the rap game.

I thought that song was called Drag Rap.

But that song is bounce music. Without it, bounce would have never existed.

It is but everyone down there called it Triggaman due to the chorus. They had no idea who the Showboys were or that they were even from NYC when it started getting sampled heavily in both spots.

It's most likely someone brought back that tape randomly from a trip to NYC and it started getting passed around or something. Shit was sampled in some old Mississippi rap too which is the divider of the two states.

Damn I never knew that. I was only aware of the impact Triggaman had on the NOLA music scene, not Memphis. I guess you learn something new every day.

DJ Spanish Fly was a pioneer of that Memphis sound.

Spanish Fly was definitely a pioneer for rap in general in Memphis let alone the sound that came out of there in the 90s. Dude hardly ever get the recognition he deserves for it though.
