Just trying to get your feedback on FREAKO, of the Super Natural Ghetto Starz outta Pittsburg, California. I'm listening to his album "Story of a Young G-Life As a General" It's hot, got some real life on it. But did you know Freako(KING)-Fred Gaines??? Well I knew him since 6th grade. We went to Central Junior High School. We lined up close to each other in Gym class. He was a skinny dude. About my height, 5'6"-5'7"He was considered cool, he hung with his crew, we always had a simple cool relationship. Always said what's up. Then came Pittsburg High School, he was there, I don't know how many years, but we started there together. We had some dank n drank sessions in the 11th grade, here and there. Then it wasn't until I started working for Xplosive Magazine and did an interview with The Ghetto Starz in one of our past issues. We meet again. It was lovely, we had a great time doing the interview, Me, Scoob Nitty-another cat I grew up with at school, Dubb 20, my nig know, and Uzi(no longer with the group). It was one of my most personal interviews. I kept Freako's number. We talked off and on for months. We talked about his career, his future, and how I wanted to help him with his music. We meet once at the Fairfield Mall. We smoked big Weed, talked-like real muthafuckas do. That was the last time I saw him.....

Rest In Peace

Don't know dude, but his shit was powerful. His music was original but his vision and skill was something legendary. I grew up on a whole nother side of the country and could feel his shit for real. Most cats can't see beyond the literal words, but dude was on some other shit. People who never left the shelter of their family glorify the obvious violence, drugs, etc., but don't listen to a potent mind speak of a totally different direction. In his music, you can see the tragedy of young blacks in America. That is something he showed and recognized within his lyrics. We live by the spoken word, that is the way of blacks before written verse on paper. I personally owe dude some thanks for sharin his music with the world; that music got me through lite and dark times (more importantly it was my theme music to shove this shit up the system's ass and get a degree and I'm still going strong). I bought his albums, and I can say he had an energy to him that resonated far beyond the speakers. He'll probably not be spoken in the same breath as Pac, but he was just as powerful in terms of his message ultimately. We really need to get shit together. There's so much more we can offer if we live to. I hope Freako rest among the stars escaping the planet that holds most of us down and captive.
