Because USC, Georgia, Missouri and WVU ALL blew their oppoents out...while Kansas played a closer game. They werent gonna put the number 1 team going into the NCG any further back than #5...

i dont care what our schedule says about who we played......we won the games we were supposed to win, and lost to the #4 team by only 8 at a neutral site. we won 5 games against bowl teams this season and only have that 1 loss obviously, they put us behind all the top 2 loss teams and infront of the top 3 loss teams....thats bullshit! atleast we got a 1st place vote from someone that isnt' biased toward the highend football schools.

Boise State BARELY beat Oklahoma last season to end the year undefeated and at the #5 spot. THEY ARE IN A NON BCS CONFERENCE! Kansas is in a BCS conference with 4 teams in the final top 10...better then any conference in the country, yet we are the only 1 loss team besides Hawaii and we all seen them get stomped didnt we? our loss like i said was by only 8 points on neutral ground to the final #4 team in the land, who lost twice to Oklahoma the team that was embarassed by West Virginia. WE did not get beat as bad as any of the teams in front of us did this season.

SO what? Youre obviously missing the point. Kansas had a SHITTY SCHEDULE...what part of that DONT you understand? You BARELY beat a VT team that got absolutely MOLLYWHOOPED by LSU and damn near LOST to ECU the following WEEK. In case you havent been following football outside of Kansas, the ACC is NOT a very good conference this year.

Hawaii is in a NON BCS CONFERNCE...Kansas is NOT.

THe final AP rankings are decided on HOW the team played in their bowl game in contrast to where they were BEFORE the bowl games was played...
