Yeah but we talking about music here. Also bootlegged movies in ATL are as common as waffle houses. Cats have shit months before even being released out there.

well I gotta say that there's been a few times I've bought the original cd or tape and it sounds like crap

I still buy a fair amount of cd's though, 80% are from northern california... but there's also a LOT of artists releasing stuff from here on the same level of distro..

The South has more rap fans per capita then any other region.
I remember this to be true about 10 years ago, and it seems to be the same nowadays with the influx of southern artists making it big.

I been pushin Quinn and the whole Bay ever since I came out here to San Diego and its amazing how receptive people are..........its all about exposure and branching outside of ones comfort zone to network and see the vast amounts of untapped markets available...........I think it starts by sewing up the whole Pacific Coast, then the SOuth and with that comes Arizona, new mexico and the SOuthwest.........1 region at a time....then the Midwest and North........the East coast will come when they see sales.......1 love

Example we met the dude that started Napster HUGE QUINN FAN! And Quinn had more songs than anyone on Napster so you would be surprised who the Bay fans are.. Like that for instance the whole fucking music downloading shit was created right here in the Bay.. think a kid from ATL is gunna sit inhis room and think of some shit like that????????

and i needed to post again to lol @ the fact that yall think the average person in the bay area gives a fuck about the "well-being" of an artist or the "strength of a movement" as long as they get to slap they CD (burned or store bought)
This is what I'm talkin' about right here. I don't giva fuck about any "movement" or if the Bay area gets nationwide exposure, or especially if an artist get his money. It doesn't affect me one way or another. That's just a gimmick you use on these young bucks to get them to buy your artists cds. Gas is fuckin' 3+ dollars a gallon these days and shit...It takes probably 2 CDs worth of gas money just to get to the fuckin' record store so you better believe I'mma burn that shit first before I run down to the local music shop and buy it, if it's worth it.

I know cd burners costs the same.. But people in the south are about Quality sounding Beat in their cars its crazy.. They want the original man so those heavy ass drums that all their producers use HIT in their cars and trucks man niggas be on their blocks sitting in them trucks watching dvds outside of their house i didnt get it but they are big on cars and when you are you are big on sound.. thats one reason they spend so much at the record shops.. cats out here cds sound shitty anyway dont matter if ya burn it or not they recorded, mix, and mastered at their house on their 1000 dollar digi 01 protool set they got for christmas.. when people ask me what fucked up our REGION Music wise i always answer PHOTOSHOP and PROTOOLS cuz everyone thinks their a graphic designer and a producer and they can do it theirselves..
I THINK THEY SHOULD OUTLAW CD BURNERS IN STORES.. ALL ITS DOIN IS HURTIN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY.. I DONT KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE I SEE WIT A CD CASE FULL OF BURNT CD'S..

I'm probably the only cat on here that can honestly say that I have NEVER burned a CD or EVER owned a burnt CD. Shiiit, I don't even like listening to MP3's. I'm about clean sound quality and trust me a lot of these legit CD's you buy in stores still have terrible sound quality.

everyone can try and make music but it doesn't mean they will fulfill their dreams or succeed at doing so, just like how people play the lotto only a few people will win

whats crazy is that even though a lot of bay area music is bootlegged, it is because it is good enough to be heard and most the time its not found on your avg store shelf where it can be purchased in a pretty little cd case with marketing schemes

what needs to happen is people need to stop polluting the game and step up the real processes like some of these peeps are saying

theres a lot of people trying to do the same shit but some efforts can be worthless, and the game can be so expensive some people cant even play it

i agree i think bay area artists should be getting paid on their record sales but they also need to start promoting outside the box

the only reason artists in the bay get out sold is because the bigger companys and corporations are pitching sales and promoting their character rappers selling out in bigger regions

summary: real music is priceless

Treal talk mayne. GOod read. I try 2 avoid burned and/or bootlegged album's as much as possible. Usually the only time I'll accept one is if the album is out of print. Otherwise I'll wait 2 purchase the album. I even try 2 stay away from imports. They don't seem official 2 me; although, sometimes the song I want is only found on imported albums. Even still I'll usually pass. My father blew up on some dude who worked at a moms and pops spot in Tahoe 4 sellin' some bootlegged Beatles or Doors album. Shit was out of control. We were just leavin' when he noticed it so it wasn't that awkward. It was kinda funny actually. My pops was heated though. He won't stand 4 that shit. He's a musician himself so he understands how bootlegging and/or burned copies takes away from the artist.
