the only differences I see is in the club teams, not so much the international, we tied the #1 squad in the world, lost 1-0 to spain and we didn't even have our best player in Donovon, and another one of our best playres in Damcarcus beasley is still trying to get back into game shape from a real bad knee injury, and one of our defenders in Spector who actually plays for west ham I think, had a horrible knee injury and will be out for a year

i love my squad, and plenty of the players on our team play over in Europe like in spain, England, and holland.

also, there is nothing better then a USA vs. Mexico soccer game
Can't disagree with you here.

On an International level and in tournaments such as these, it's always good soccer. It's the best players representing their country, whether it's the Eurocup or the Copa de Oro.

And Sergio Ramos is a savage, he can get up on fools and win balls that's for sure...

^well i don't know about that, USA soccer is only getting better, you guys dominated the gold cup in the 90's, But Freddy adu, jozy altidore, michael bradley and other young players are already making a name for them selfs to be forces not only on USA but in eruope and other leagues around the world.. I mean Adu and Jozy are only 19 years old and play in spain and bradley is 20... and I believe plays in Holland

USA soccer is only going up and will continue to get better

Mexico has plenty of guys overseas playing right now. Carlos Vela, Gio Dos Santos, Neri Castillo, Rafa Marquez, Carlos Salcido, Omar Bravo, just to name a few out of the top of my head.

Talentwise, USA is very good but I still think Mexico has more talent. They just underachieve vs the USA and the USA does very well against them.

But the USA team is getting WAY better than it was in the 90's, it's not even close to the team of those days. Adu, Beasley, Donavon are all ballers...

yeah thats my bad, cause I don't know all that status of mexcio's players over seas, cause I don't follow them closely....i know about Marquez tho, who doesn't

but I think we can agree this is a great rivalry.

oh yeah thats what I was gonna ask, do you happen to know when the next gold cup is?? it's been every two years for awhile now, but there is no info on the next one...

ANYWAYS back to the Euro...

Ballack a doubt for EURO final

http://www.euro2008.uefa.com/news/kind=1/newsid=728648.html#ballack+doubt+euro+final said:
Germany could go into tonight's final against Spain without their captain and inspiration Michael Ballack as the midfielder is receiving treatment for a calf injury.

The 31-year-old sat out the team's final training session in Tenero on Friday and was also a notable absentee tonight as the team were put through their paces at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion on the eve of the UEFA EURO 2008™ showpiece. "The muscle has tightened and we'll have to wait and see how things develop," explained coach Joachim Löw. "Our medical people are working around the clock to give him a chance to play."

I think Ballack will play, even if it's only for 60 minutes or less.
It's more than likely his last EURO, so i really doubt he will miss out on that one, especially because he already missed the WOrld Cup Final in 2002. A hardened calf won't stop him. I think the media is blowing this shit up a little to make Germany look weaker than they are.

oh btw this might be the longest thread about Soccer on the Siccness EVER.
Good shit.
We need to establish a Champions league thread or thread for the 3 top European leauges (England, Spain, Italy) once the season starts again.

You cannot base your teams strength on friendly matches. I agree though that the US will get better and already has talented players, but it will still take time (about 14 - 18 years) till they can really compete with the worlds best in an official tournament.

I thought the USA was good until the 2006 World Cup. We all know what happened there. They got huge potential though, no doubt.

As for today, I'm hoping it goes to PK's! That'd be the shit. Spain would win of course!

You was right...Ballack is in the starting lineup.
