Yeah we have two former college QBs on our squad in Arnaz Battle and Micheal Robinson. We should toss one of them in there, I honestly don't think they would do any worse than Trent Dilfer. The problem is neither one of them have played the position since they were drafted, not even in practice.

^^Not if he plays like he did on Sunday.

He made a lot of poor decisions.. He threw balls Alex Smith never would have thrown. On top of that he's a statue out there. Alex Smith made our line look a lot better than it had been playing because he can scramble away from a sack, but Dilfer was scrambling INTO sacks and might have been making them look even worse. Not only that, but Dilfer's passes were UGLY as hell.

Maybe it was due to the fact that he hasn't played a real game since 05, but he looked like SHIT out there.
ya ur right but he also hasnt played in like what? 2 years? im not saying hes an AWESOME QB or ne thing.. he shouldnt do alllll THAAAAAT bad while smith is out....

btw i did not know that arnaz battle and michael robinson both used to be QB's in college...

Report: Alex Smith to seek 2nd opinion
By The Mercury News
Article Launched: 10/02/2007 10:37:24 PM PDT

49ers quarterback Alex Smith is seeking a second opinion on his injured throwing shoulder, which might lead to season-ending surgery, according to an ESPN.com report.
Smith will consult with Dr. James Andrews after preliminary MRI exam results indicated he appears to have suffered a serious injury to tendons in his right shoulder during a 23-3 loss to Seattle on Sunday, a source told ESPN.com. If the diagnosis performed at Stanford is confirmed by Andrews, the source said, Smith is expected to have corrective surgery immediately even though he would probably miss the rest of the season.

The 49ers have reported Smith's injury as a third-degree shoulder separation that would not require surgery. Smith said Monday that two ligaments connecting the collarbone to the shoulder blade were torn when he was sacked by defensive tackle Rocky Bernard.

damn thats gonna suck for the niners if he is out for the rest of the season
