thats because he wasn't saying anything...

lip synching is when you move your lips and act as if what's playing through the speakers is what you're saying, when really you're not saying anything at all...
So he wasn't saying anything as you first said...but there's still his voice coming through the PA. So he was on stage not saying anything, yet his voice was heard. How is that not lip synching?

he wasnt moving his lips!!

lip synching creates the imitation that you are saying something.

do you know how many people sing/rap over their recorded tracks?? damn near all of them at one point or another.

it is better than 12 people yelling in mics.... but way too many artists are rapping over backing tracks... step your game up!

as far as artists from the bay who are really doing it right ... check out Digital Underground , The Coup and heiro if you want to see some LIVE hip hop

Thank you. You got what I mean! RAPPERS need to RAP when they're on stage. I'd be pissed if I went to a restaurant and the chef didn't cook me a meal, but warmed up the left overs and claimed it was made from scratch.

40's live show is alot better than some bay artists. i would like to hear just the instrumental with 40 rapping over that but whatever its not a big deal to me. it is what it is.i dont think they are changing anything.

Its a better idea to have a vocal track one way or another (preferably turned down a bit) First if you mess up on a lyric its non-noticeable. Without it you'll sound hallow, and over powered by the beat/bass, and is going to sound better for the audience

Who gives a shit, enjoy the show... If you want accapella's go to a underground rap battle

U2 1 of the biggest touring bands who just signed a deal to live nation the biggest concert promoter out there uses digital performer.
Just because big names and other people do it doesn't make it right. This thread isn't pointless, it's just seeing which rappers can actually back up their music and which ones need a crutch.

Like someone said, Nickatina don't need it and sounds good still: http://youtube.com/watch?v=yAGJJ-q-xMs

the fact is that rap is very produced and hella rappers have like 5 vocal tracks playing at a time on their cd.... its very hard to get that same sound live....

but your live show doesnt have to sound exactly like your cd, get creative

the reason I mentioned Nickatina iz cuz put on some dope shows spittin' every single lyric......

and The Coup......shiiit! They be havin' a live band playin the shit!........Boots put on sum of the dopest shows I've ever seen! You would have to see one to understand

EVERY time they come up to Sea-town I will be sure to spend me 20 bones. And also Nickatina and Boots both be out inside the venue choppin' it up wit da fans! Thats real shit right there if ya ask me. I'm sure 40 would NEVER be out givin' niggaz pounds in the venue.........lol

I think 40 is sick in shit so no hate on him

but if you perform and have your verse playing on top of you rapping it, its lip-singing point blank and that shits wack. I never been to a hip hop show and heard that bullshit

Why is he just rapping over the CD version? Never seen him live, but does he fake all his songs?
thats not lip synch lip synch is when you play your vocals and move your lips without your voice comming out of the mic ive been to his concerts and he turns them out everytime have you ever notice when he talk he sounds just like he rap lol

Rap music is made to bump in your car, not to rock out with your lighter up at live shows, imho, especially bay rap.

when youre moving around a lot, especially if youre as big as e40, its hard to keep your breath while youre rapping. would you rather him get hyped up and lip synch but sound good or get hyped up and sound like hes gonna have a heart attack?? you know who has the illest show but lip synchs almost the whole thing??? tech n9ne
Iono man, the one time I saw Tech he spit everything. I was right up against the stage. He wasn't lip synching at all. And I've seen 40 twice and he wasn't lip synching at all either. He puts on a sick ass show. Turf Talk on the other hand fucked up a few times and you could tell easily that he was lip synching his entire set. It was pretty disappointing.

Too Short does his shit live over instrumentals..
