this is the biggest surprise for me. shit. Detroit fucks with 40 on the heavy!!!!!
I was out there 2 months ago, and they've been up on game for a while, places like Saginaw, Flint, and Detroit have they're own rap scene but they had Bay Rap at Best Buy, like Keak, 40, Dre, and Cutthoat Committee.

some of those places are college towns so maybe thats why his albums is being bought. people go to school there but doesnt actually come from there.

you are exactly right. I've been tryin to tell people this...SO MANY bay heads in Virginia, Maryland, and Illinois for school. Shit, go down to Long Beach, San Diego and Santa Barbara it's on a bigger scale down there but you'll get the idea.

Great Post, Very Interesting Info.
This shows where there is more marketing needed, more promotions, etc. This is most def one of the more valuable tools to artists tryin to go nationwide.

Thanks for sharing, Chuck!
Agree with you 100%. This can be such a useful tool.We need more threads like this.

It would be interesting to see what kind of figures other rappers do in the Bay. Not the super mainstream cats that the little white girls be buying (Snoop, Luda, 50, etc), but cats like T.I., Lil Wayne, Lupe Fiasco, Chamillionaire and others that aren't quite as popular (yet).

I'm curious to see if it is just the fact that the Bay doesn't support HIP HOP period, or if we simply just don't support our own....

interesting thread. interesting to see Detroit as 40s biggest supporter, outside of the west coast cities(includin wash, ariz, etc.) they bought more in Detroit than in ATL, crazy. coo to see that his sales are pretty much evenly spread across the US though, hope he goes platinum.

damn the bay didn't buy much more than LA did...thats fucking pathetic.
how you figure? LA covers damn near all of SoCal except for Diego and accordin to this they sold 49,757. I think for the Bay sellings you gotta include Sac, Stockton just cuze its all connected up here like that. if you put those 2 together that's bout 100,000 alone so that ain't bad. but anyhow my point on that was there is probably way more people in the area considered "LA" which sold 49,000 compared to the area they considered "SF,Oak,San Jo" for the 64,000 they sold. clearly 40 sold the most by a landslide in Northern Cali, no big suprise. Not that suprised that LA was #2 but I thought he would have sold a lil more down south, but he is still doin beefy.

You're right, I think they lumped together the whole metro area and the LA metro area is a little over 18 million.
