i hope majors see the hype of the hyphy movement and try to sign the bay's finest.. like THE TEAM or MISTAH FAB or SAN QUINN OR TURF TALK OR MESSY MARV(people i think could really step into the national level)..And also produce hyphy "singles" that hopefully would take off just like E40's "tell me when to go"..i also want lil jon to maybe sign more bay artist if he is really tryin to help the bay with this hyphy movement/bay area movement whatever you wanna call it. yadadadayee

also, you cant base e40 success on his past..today's a new day...hyphy that is..and i know erryone feels the anticipation of the bay's explosion nationwide..e40 is gonna do exactly what you think hes not...BLOW THE BAY UP

The following post is a truthfil business analysis dealling in facts. If you are a consumer/super fan you may want toskip this post because the facts will go over your head. First let me say the Im a fan of E-40 and i respect all that he's done. i must say i do not see him blowing up big. let me state the facts. for one he is an OLD artist. literally and in terms of being in the game.. He's like 39/40 with an 18yrold son. its hard to re market a guy that has already been on the scene. The executives who push the buttons at TV and Radio view him as a has been. For example everyone from Jay-Z on down respects Kool G Rap, but no one is trying to put chips behind him. He is a vet who still can spit, but he is like 40 in that they had their glory ing the 90's.

Hyphy Movement
E-40 is not the one to usher in the hyphy movement. There needs to be some fresh new faces who have not blown up and then deflated on a national level. Forty was known for Captain Save Em and sprinkle me,Players Ball. The suits still have that perception. Its a big jump for him now to be dooing this hyphy music. Imagine if Busta Rhymes would come out on some straight G sht like C-BO. No one would care to hear it comeing from Busta.

SELFISH
its selfish for E-40 to still be be trying to Blow up again. He had his time and he didi it good in the 90's. He reminds me of another Bay legend who just couldn't let it go (Jerry Rice). True Rice could still run and catch but it ws time to step aside and let a young player shine. Some will say 40 is rich has mansions, franchises. Which is true. just like Rice is rich and has stats and records, but it was still time to hang it up. If 40 really wanted to helpf the movement he would endorse a young artist and put all his energy behind him or her. When the East Coastr came back big 98-2001 it wasn't with Kool G Rap and Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, etc. even though those guys can still spit. The movement consisted of young fresh talent like Jadakiss, lox, Fabolous, Ja Rule, Beanie etc.

i will always love and respect 40 for what he has brought to the game. i wish him success. It looks like he will do the same amt of units he's been doing his first week. His top radio markets are all in Cali, then hawaii. If his first single does not pop, he only gets one more crack befor Warner cuts their losses and moves on to the next project. If it doesn't pop he has no one but himself to blame.

I hope 40 defies the odds and becomes the second early 90's rapper to come back like Twista.

Notice how when Houston blew up, it was alll Frsh new faces, not The Geto Boys.

So how would you explain Too Short...he's been around probably longer than 40...and his career had a ressurection...so out the window goes your logic of not being able to re-market an older artist... and age has almost nothing to do w/ this ( Jay-Z is 37 and is only getting better ) because I'm gonna say that most people outside The Bay have little or no knowledge of 40 so he would be something fresh and new to a lot of people...

As far as 40 being selfish...I don't understand that...he's just doing what he's been doing all these years...and thats being 40. You're implying that he's 'stealing the spotlight' when I see the exact opposite...

40's actually opened the doors for a lot of these younger artists you see getting some exposure today, Turf Talk, The Federation, Droop-E... etc.

You also compared this to the Houston rap movement that was so big last year...and said that they 'were fresh new faces'

Which they were...to the rest of the world...but these guys have been putting it down on the underground for years in their respective areas...but wasn't until last year until they started to really get attention.

Same w/ 40...he's been putting it down for years...and is known...but will still be a 'new face' to many people who weren't into the 'Sprinkle Me' era of Bay rap...

The thing w/ the whole Hyphy Movement is that its a new sound, and a new type of energy for The West Coast especially The Bay...

40 said it best on the MTV My Block: The Bay special when he said that he was a vet in the game...but at the same time has always stayed current by being a trendsetter..

But we will all see come March 14th...

I Agree With Most Of Dude's Points But Not All Of Them. I Really Agree With The One About Getting Sum Fresh Faces To Rep Tha West & Just Put The Money Behind Em.Cuz Seeing The Same Faces Get Old. Immagine If Say Mitchy Slick/Syko & One Of The Bays Hottest Rappers (Hard To Choose From) Had The Money 40 Got's. They Could Put They Shit Out Like 40. Money & Connects Is What Lets All These Fools Get On The Radio/TV. I Think The Whole West Needs To Get Together & Get A Rapper From The NW/BAY/SOCAL Area & Make A Group & Mix All Them Styles Up In One & Fund It With Sum1 Who Has Tons Of Cash.WEST GUARUNTEED To Blow Up

The video is on point period. He did his job on that! Here in the bay area they will accept a bunch of different so called industry handbook shit out here. The Age thang don't mean a damb thing out here and will mak it good for the industry to see that shown by us. So what 40's 40. the nigga still got it. 40 is already blowin up. the single is everywhere...niggas is already startin hate threads.....same shit 50went through...now the nigga may not sale multi millions of copies but it he will do really good numbers and if you looking from it from our yay eyes...this is real big period. lets all support the dude. he deserves it. I just hope one thing....that the rest of the bay does not have to somehow go through or always have to affiliate themselves with 40 in order to get on. like he the go to man for the rst of the bay talent. NO NO NO.

I have somethin 2 yell bout this 1. I just read the new radio charts for this week (I will post the link) and e-40 moved from 21 to 13 this week a big ass improvement. Also I now reside in LA and was listeening to the radio and heard tell me when 2 go on 102.7 KISS FM. If u know anything about radio KISS is at the top of the 'Pop' scene and all they play is top 40 hits so this is a big step. Also, MTV is palying the hell out of the song and is a "spankin new video" this week which indicates it will probably be on TRL:mad: but its proof that he will be bigger than he was in the 90's. With 40 blowing up more bay artis will get there time to shine I mean damn! he put keak on his first street/radio single, thats not that selfish my bobble!!
Thats good to hear. It seems like 40's really infiltrating the "clear channel pop circut" with this next album.

bun b and them niggas is old as fuck and they doin songs wit beyonce and shit now... 40 got way more talent and style then them niggas so i know the shit about he cant blow up aint correct. 40 will blow up, get his little shine for a minute, then step off and then u will see hella other bay niggas rush that open door to the mainstream. then i believe thats when 40s job is DONE, and should hang it up and pass the torch.

In my opinion fresh faces and all that shouldn't matter. If your music is tight and bumpin'.... then who cares if it's an old face or new face. It's all about the music. Before Mac Dre passed away... he was an old face... but his music got tighter as he got older. C-Bo is an old face but still putting out good music.

I wouldn't say E-40 is selfish... everybody's acting like he's taking all of the credit. If so, why was Keek on his single? And he mentioned in one of his older songs "3 times laced me, tought me how to say 4-sheezy"....

I don't agree with this post at all.

MY 2 CENTS

THE BIGGEST THING IS GOING TO BE IN PROMO.IF THE MONEY IS SPENT RIGHT ON (LIL JONS) END THEN THE 40 PROJECT SHOULD DO REAL WELL.

IF NOT THEN THERE COULD BE A FALL IN SALES(LETS HOPE NOT)

IT 90% BIZZNESS 10% TALENT. YOU COULD BE 2PAC BUT IF IT DONT GET TO THE PEOPLE NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW..JUST CUZ 40 GET HELLA RADIO PLAY OUT HERE DONT MEAN HE WILL SALE ALBUMS..KEAKS WHITE T AND NIKES WAS THE SUMMER JAM EVERYONE BUMPEDTHAT BUT HE AINT WENT GOLD..?

ITS ALL IN PROMO.I JUST HOPE THAT LIL JON KNOWS HOW TO REALLY MARKET 40 AND ALSO FINDS THE WAY TO BREAK HIM IN NEW MARKETS.
LET SEE HOW THE MONEY IS REALLY SPENT TO PROMO 40 AND NOT TO MAKE LIL JON LOOK LIKE HE THE ONE THAT BROUGHT THE BAY BACK...ONE TO THINK ON....

first off you made this yur first post ??? second one group that kills yur whole theory is three-six mafia ?? as for every act u listed from Big Daddy to Kool G rap..all left the game or retired ,,the gheeto boys broke up but Scarface hat some thinking he was one of the tightest spitters out there and was still going strong....as far as it being 40s fault if he doesnt blow ?? he should have blown on Jive but they didnt market him right...look at all the artists he worked with and helped them get more exposure...jive didnt know what to do with rep yur city (feat little john and the eastside boys) that was ahead of its time...then 2 years later the south and little john blow....look at how early he was working with Jazzie Phae....the real bottom line is how well 40 is marketed...will mainstream outlets show love ( it seems MTV is showing more love than BET ??? is that on the strength of Sway)...and the biggest one..if everyone who loves bay music or is an E-40 fan...stays true to this bay movement and buys the album !!!! no downloading or mixtapes!!!...in the bay almost everyone is up on the computer game..for a while...where as the south..a lot of folks dont even have computers..so they go out and purchase there artists and u see it in the sales !!!! bottom line we all gotta make a statement for this bay movement and for 40 and cop hi album this Tuesday March 13 !!!!!! make sure he breaks into the debut top 10 rankings...yadadafeelme!!!

screw that man, I'm not really a big fan of E-40's style of spit but his music do be knockin tho. I just hope 40 can open up the door to niggaz like The Team (especially Clyde Carson), Fabby, Federation (Goldie is talented), and Ya Boy (he's already on the move with BWS/Interscope)

The stupidest shit is people talking about E-40 doing Hyphy music isn't him...40 is one of the founders and creators. Listen to Grit & Grind...if that shit aint Hyphy, then what the fuck IS hyphy? Him and Rick Rock helped mold the sound...

And he was on pretty much every huge Hyphy hit...from "Hyphy" to "T-Shirt, Blue Jeans & Nikes"...40 deserves to take a lil piece of credit for hyphy.

And yall act like it's a complete 180...listen to his albums from first to his latest, that shit is just one big transition of the same themes, just new sounds. I don't see why people don't see the connections between mob and hyphy...hyphy is basically mob mixed with crunk.

I think 40 is doin his thing. He shouldnt have a problem blowing up again. I dont see why. Hes only doing better having the help of Lil Jon.

and personally hes not being selfish, cuz i think he does a lot for others so they can come up with him. He did a show in LA a couple weeks back where he gave Turf Talk stage time which was coo as fuck...

but thats my 2 cents...
