Remember kids...just cus a song says "produced by"...does NOT mean that person made the BEAT....

There is a big difference between a "beat maker" and a "producer"....

There was a reason Dre had a "team"...they made a majority of the beats...but he did the production...

Puffy had The Hitmen, Master P had Beats by The Pound...some of these kids only started liking rap after Mac Dre died.

everyone going to count dr dre out untill they hear his new cd. just like they did before chronic 2001 came out. and just like they are now. dre makes good music, it might not be your favorite but it will always be hot, look what he did for eve, busta rhymes, eminem, 50 cent, the game, snoop, tupac, etc. he gave each one of them a couple of #1 hits.

Dr. Dre needs to give most of his money to RBX, DJ Yella, Sir Jinx, Daz, DJ Quik, Mel-Man, Scott Storch, and the huge and ever growing list of people that made beats he took credit for because he turned a couple of knobs in mixdown.

"Dr. Dre" as in the product under that name, isn't overrated...Dr. Dre the person, is one of the most overrated people in the history of music.

fa real, a producer just doesnt make beats, they put the song/album together, and dr.dre is VERY good at doin that

So why haven't anyone on that list you mentioned (with the exception of Scott Storch and Quik) gone on to do anything just as big or bigger than Dre?

Cats like to knock Dre for all the shit that gets printed in magazines and said in diss songs but how in the hell do you know what goes on in that studio of his?

The crazy thing is, most cats who turned on Dre did so after cats started accusing him of not really producin and all that bullshit. But before all that, niggaz was fans, lol ... Just goes to show you that some people don't know how to think for themselves.

You're contradicting yourself... On one hand, you're saying Dr Dre's product isn't overrated - his product being music. Then you say Dre as a person is one of the most overrated people in music.

and not only that and for futher information, producers put different sounds together (by engineer (by someone) , keyboard (by someone), guitar (by someone or same person again), etc. sounds into a song all together (and accapella?) which would be made by "producer") or either producer does it all himself

A producer has a vision for a song and is responsible for making sure that the vision comes out the way he/she wants it.

Some people are idea people but aren't any good with working machines or playing instruments and shit. So they'll sit there telling someone else what they want until it sounds the way they want. That's a producer.

Example:

Andre Nickatina came to me with the idea for Ayo for Yayo. He knew what he wanted, he had the hook and he knew what the song was supposed to sound like. We brought a guitar player in to play the guitar parts, Dre wanted me to do the drums as long as I didn't do anything wack, so I created the drum track and *boom* we had the Ayo for Yayo instrumental - Produced by Andre Nickatina.

I recorded the guitar player, arranged the guitar parts, created the drums to Dre's standards and sequenced everything on my MPC and ProTools. Andre Nickatina produced this song though because he made sure that his idea came out the way he wanted it. I was just an engineer on this song.

treal shit that song was a hit. people in other states bump ayo for yayo without even knowing who andre nickatina is

you're right about the vision thing. you can have a vision but it takes the work to make that vision a reality, and a lot of folks just have ideas
