Dj/ Turntablist still using vinyl???

Theres just no comparison between lugging along crates full of vinyl ( not that theres anything wrong with that, we had to do that for years ) and bringing a laptop or hard drive. For the mobile DJ its a no brainer.
Now as a 'tablist...I personally like the feel of vinyl better, and I believe the battle scene will stay old school, as far as that goes. I guess on the premise that more technological features takes away from the craft. I remember when the Samurai mixer came out, it was frowned upon by the real die hards.
So to sum it up, for mobile DJ's...digital is a no brainer, but I feel like 'tablists will always stay loyal to the vinyl.

MOREBASS I don't quite get what yer saying tho....With Serato you USE REAL VINYL...You just use the same 2 records as opposed to having to switch them. Plus there's no latency or anything like that to make it different from scratching old records etc. I know some people use serato with cdjs but thats not my thing either. I use my same DJ equipment just with 2 records and a laptop...and a back that doesn't hurt anymore from luggin crates lol.
i still use vinyl. i bought some records in the bay last week. ill never quit buying records for samples. my homie dj junk gave me a record of the story of pinnochio...now that would mean nothing to yall and he laughed at me when i was like "aww yeah!"but i was geeked...im geeked on anything thats a probable sample..ill sample man of la mancha over celtic records.
i dont use records to be tight or to make money really its just always been a hobby to make beats at the pad when im bored. thats how i wanan get it so ill sample anything and ill never go serato unless i HAVE TO
i dont even save beats usually ill just get into the zone and get bored then turn off the sampler..used to have records all over the floor..id break a few accidently stepping or sitting on one sometimes...ill do that when i get a studio space or a live work loft to work in.

Nothing wrong with using Serato AT ALL. I use it with both the Vinyl control on my 1200's and I use it with CD's at the club I'm a resident at because the booth is too cheap and the bass fucks with the needle too much. I like using both though because I'm a more versatile DJ that way so no matter where I go I can rock whatever equipment is there whether it be CD-J's or 1200's.
The only thing I will say bad about Serato is the people who never DJ before and start on Serato. They'll mix with their eyes rather than their ears and it really fucks up the learning process and they will never be able to have the skills of a real DJ. Serato makes bad DJ's worse, but on the other hand it makes good DJ's great. It's a double edged sword.

yeah im not dissing anyone who uses serato..at all...im just saying for me what mad me fall in love with making beats and mixing was turntables....and when i say i fell in love with making beats because of turntables i want to say that i bought an analog 4-track with no sampler and i was making beats on one take..meaning..i had to drum by scraching on the turntables and be on beat for 3-4 minutes as i was doing no punch ins..everything had to be layered correctly..i didnt come in the game where the computer did what you were supposed to do..i came in the game where you had to make your own sound with no help...no pro tools none of that...your skill made the album. you cant use serato in a dj battle.
at the end of the day you can rock a show with serato just like you coulkd with dats back in the day but turntables are gonna bring out a persons true personality..theres more of a need for creativity with turntables wheras serato basically lays your gameplan out for you.

Thats cool. I guarantee you though that if you were rocking shows on the regular you would be using Serato too. If you're still lugging around crates and crates of vinyl to the club you are a fool. You're just hurting your back and the pocketbook in the end. Trying to keep up with getting all the latest shit on vinyl is expensive, time consuming, and a pain in ass because lots of shit never hits vinyl.
In all actuality you could very easily use serato in a DJ battle. You don't have to ever touch the computer if you know how to work it properly.
