i mean, they had hits all day on mtv and what not, but i think they stayed true to themselves for the most part.........i dont consider them gangsta rap, but i dont think they were pop....
yeah, i never thought they were whack...just cuz they got played on mtv back in the day was tight...their sound changed a little bit later, but they were always dope in my opinion.
I never liked em, all that opp crap was annoying as fuck, they werent a pop act, they just had a couple of mediocre catchy hits. Treach was good rapper though, its just the songs they made sounded corny.
Their first album was wack as fuck but they had some bangers for sure. Treach was a lyricist not to be fucked with. Back in the day you used to ask who were the best MCs...you used to hear Chuck D and Treach.
Theyre not even pop, they are pop wannabees these days. When they did that song with 3LW it was all over. Back in the day though they were tight. OPP, Ghetto Bastard, Uptown Anthem... classics. Uptown Anthem is so damn hard.
i would NOT put them in the same catagory.Chuck might have spit some real social, political shit, but Treach was more of a lyricist.Chuck just rhymed.....
but i never cared for NBN as a group.i hated Hip Hop Hooray.but i dug Gheto Bastard alot.at the time Treach woulda sounded better on "west coast" beats........
man, feel me flow was my fuckin jam, the beat was something real nice on that one. uptown anthem is classic, opp, hiphophooray was cool.....they were tight
