Cydal (the group) haven't put out an album in almost a decade and a half. It's a safe bet that it doesn't matter and that they wouldn't even care.

Not that Cydal is all that original of a name to begin with, no offense to anyone. Hell, we have a Sydal that posts on here too.

If we were to start this argument with every rapper that has a similar name as another these thread would go on forever....i dont see what the big deal is man

Its safe to say Cydal is a completely separate artist from the group Cydal...in fact I think King Cydal has a pretty solid track record with videos and releases so far, if anything "Cydal" the group should be happy to see someone so talented carrying on the name in a sense...

cmon now

I manage King Cydal.

I remember when he came up with his first name when he was 14, J-Swift.

When he really decided to pursue rapping at 16 he called himself Mr. Swiftacydal. It described his personality of cool but crazy. Between 16 and 17 before he started working on his first album Ya Block's Host (Jan 2002), he came up with King Cydal since Mr. Swiftacydal was too long and hard for some people to pronounce.

He added King because he admired Kings and their position of power and wanted to hold himself up to a superior level to keep himself pushing to be the best. Cide means to kill or destroy. And he just thought the name sounded tight.

Note: T-Luni of the original group Cydal and King Cydal have spoken about this "issue" and it has been resolved and they may possibly collab in the near future. So if it's cool with them then it's all good.

^^^ No doubt man, we pushing on both sides of Cali (NorCal & SoCal) to get his name out there and got some good things in the works right now from an indie standpoint. We'll see how everything pans out, this should be a real hot summer for him.

I can't believe this was even brought up. Shit happens, and a name really is nothing to get upset over. There was Dr. Dre, then there was Dr. Dre and Ed Lover. My boys started calling me Sydal in 1997, and I had never even heard of the group Cydal until late '99. Just because there are similarities, or even the same name, doesn't mean somebody jacked somebody else.

Yeah, It's not like any of the artist that use "Young" or "Lil" or "Big" or or "Boy" are trippin lol. But if the thread starter was actually curious about it, then it's all love.
