Man, too much bullshit in between I tend to get lost on what the fuck this thread was originally about by the time I get to page 3 LOL!!!!
Here's my 2: Yeah Too $hort was sellin' tapes out the trunk and started the independent Game in Oakland / the Bay, but Eazy E did the same for Compton.
Here's where most of you are getting confused: $hort made his money slangin' out the trunk...Eazy E did the same, but the difference is: Eazy took it to a major level (much earlier than $hort).
Eazy started signing artist and kept pushing shit to what we now know as the mainstream. Acts like JJ Fad, The D.O.C, Michel'le who gained radio play and were undeniable big hot artist at the time.
The fire that leaned more to the Eazy E side was the departure of Ice Cube from NWA...as the world atticipated what was going to be said next about the beef between the man who'd gone solo (Ice Cube) & "The World's Most Dangerous Group". The rest is history: Solo releases from founding NWA members, new artist, the infamous "We're All In The Same Gang" collab that featured every hot West Coast artist (at the time) from MC Hammer, Digital Underground to Tone Loc & Eazy E.
Too $hort continued to make his money and built up his name without some of the fruits Eazy E had eatten from, but Too $hort reached his pinnicle with songs like "The Ghetto" which put him on the radar and made the music industry look towards Oakland. From that point acts like the Luniz, The Click (Reppin' Vallejo) and every suburb area of the Bay came pouring out into what we know as the Game. Still, it would be 16 years before the music industry would focus their main attention to Bay Area Rappers.
Respect due on to both Eazy & Too $hort, pioneers that founded the independent Rap Game.
As for Daz, there comes a time when no matter how much you love your dog...you just got to let him go & put that old dog to sleep.
