but yeah i tuned in like 5-10 min before it ended to watch 'what about brian' and dude looked like he was about to die hahah. i knew right away he didnt complete it and the announcer said that he did it for 7 MINUTES AND 8 SECONDS, which is still the longest ever. props to him though, pretty craaaaazy.
david blaine's a cool dude. i remember watching him on tv when i was like in elementary school, like 8-10 years ago. he was like now take a penny and put it under your pillow tonight and say the magic words of 'david blaine .... blahblahblah' and it'll turn into a dolllar tomorrow morning!! i got greedy and put like 3 pennies under my pillow and said the magic words but it didnt come true

the longest underwater breath hold is 8 minutes 58 seconds and blaine was going for 9 minutes. he failed. he was living underwater for longer than anyone ever had, which was 170some hours. the dude that set the 8min 58 sec record tried to break his own record and was only able to go 6 minutes the second time. i think where blaine failed was tryin to put on all those handcuffs and shit, he wasted too much energy and had to move around to open the cuffs instead of just going into his zone and holding his breath.
as for the free dive girl that died, she was almost 600 feet underwater i believe. that freediving shit is crazy. sometimes they just dive as far down as they can and come up but the girl that died was using a weight that pulled her down that far then they have to come up at a slow rate because if you are hundreds of feet underwater your lungs are sqeezed so small that if you just go to the surface hella fast then your lungs will burst
