(08-26) 11:51 PDT SANTA ROSA -- Authorities today identified the 22-year-old driver, who was killed, and his 23-year-old passenger, who was injured, in a car wreck Saturday evening in Santa Rosa.

The California Highway Patrol identified the driver as Brandon Lloyd Clopton of Healdsburg, and his passenger as Lauren Elizabeth Ell, also of Healdsburg.

According to the CHP, Clopton was speeding in his 1995 Ford Mustang on southbound Dry Creek Road at around 5:35 p.m. on Saturday when the car went out of control and hit a utility pole and tree. The car then rolled several times, the CHP reported.

Clopton was pronounced dead at the scene. Ell eas flown to Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa where she continued to be treated today for major injuries.

Alcohol is being investigated as a factor in the crash, the CHP reported.

Yeah we got that car in my tow yard...it was a bad weekend for fatalities...I have one car, an Acura Legend that was picked up last night...there is still blood leaking out of it. You don't see that too often. Most fatalities don't have much blood if they die instantly since the heart stops...we get some horrible shit in here.
