You're thinking too deep imo. The rastafarian people are great people all around. Dont sweat the past. As an atheist, the rastafarians I can say show much love. If I didnt listen to music based on religious beliefs and only listened to atheists, I'd have next to nothing. A few here and there. Bob Marley....shit! How can you deny his music? I'm loaded and rambling right now, but I hope I got my point across. Good music is good music, regardless of beliefs. Damian Marely talking about some real revolutionary type shit!! But other than that, I agree...But christians/muslims/jews aint any better! They fucked up the ENTIRE world!!! but you still listen to christian rappers right? I dunno, agian, I'm loaded....

oh fa sho, I agree that Rastas have real revolutionary beliefs and that's all to the good. THe only thing is they throw Rasta Fari out there a lot ya know.. I mean, I like the music and I like the overall message, I just wish they wouldn't be so deep into following Rasta Fari as much.. it's all gravvy tho, shit is good music I aint trynna take away from Junior Gong's music and his message. I don’t see how it’s contradictory. Like I mentioned, if I only listened to Atheist Commie music I wouldn’t have much music to listen to now would I? Should I not listen to [insert favorite rapper here] because he is a Christian?

I was speaking more on Selassie and how they believe him to be God incarnate even though he wasn't exactly a hero for the Ethiopian people. I'm speaking more on your stance as a Socialist as opposed to an atheist. As far as comparison to Christian rappers, I was just saying the rastas are a lot more vocal about their beliefs in their music. Again, good music; definitely revolutionary ideas, but that Selassie thing is a turn off.

Selassie himself alway's denied the claims that he was reincarnated Jesus or God (can't remember exactly) But there are a lot other factors that play a role:

He's supposed to be a direct decender of king David, and it also had to do with the Ethiopian bible and the war with the italians (Ethiopia was the only country in Afrika which wasn't occupied by europeans)
And about him making a great speech at the United Nations at that time.

I can't remember everything exactly tho but I know that all rastafarians stand for love and peace and they all hail HIM (His Imperial Majasty) and not only the ones who live on jamaica but world wide.. So he couldn't have been that bad?
