I thought you only needed the converter box for like RF channels in 09. Shit I'm new to HD. I just got my LCD a few weeks ago and my DVR with HD just set up. I think I need to order some package for HD since I only get like local channels and some movie channels in HD. I gotta get my cousin to get me some HDMI cables from best buy ASAP so I can get what ya'll are getting!

Same here... Some of my HD channels aren't coming in clear. So it's the HDMI cable that we need? I have comcast and that DVR too...

Sometimes when you use an HDMI cable you'll get a better picture but at the same time it increases the sharpness of the picture, so you'll notice more detail as well as a blocky picture.

It might also depend on the coax coming into your home. If it's RG 59 upgrade to RG 6. Make sure there are no crimped fittings because they will cause signal loss. If your picture is pixelating, it might because your splitter isn't grounded.

Also, you might be too far to receive a good quality signal. Comcast has been spreading their HD services to customers that might be too far.

It's not the HDMI cable... HDMI is a digital signal you either get it or you don't there's no inbetween.

Monster Cables are a joke. I'm surprised people are that gullible to spend a shit load of gwap on them

I'm using componey video cables which Comcast provided hooked up to a 63 Inch DLP 1080i and the picture is fine. I just need to have the technician to re-wire my cable lines because they are old as fuck and certain channels have poor signal.

i work in an electronics spot, i sell mostly to comcast installers and other home theatre installers and disgruntled radioshack customers, our cables compared to monster are dirt cheap a 6 footer that costs 89.99 at bestbuy will cost you 27 at our store and like 6-10 bucks at monoprice.com

im almost certain its the piece of shit coaxial cable that i have old stuff from radioshack, they still probably use rg59,. its cool tho i just ordered some new stuff since we were out at work.

1 extra hdmi for my tv so that my 360 can use the other, and 2 quad shield coax cables.. highest quality you can get with thomas & betts snap and seal fittings.

When they installed the HD box at my girlfriends parents house they tried the HDMI cable and the RGB cables it looked better with the RGB and they said that sometimes the software in the box doesn't work right with certain tv's when they use the HDMI cables. I also read somewhere that the difference between HDMI and the RGB cables isn't any different unless you are getting interference because the HDMI is digital you won't get any interference from other sources or power cables (just like alternator whine in a car stereo setup). And don't fuck with monster cables they are a rip off especially for HDMI since the shielding is not needed because the signal is digital and isn't susceptible to interference.

I get all my cables from monoprice.com they have really cheap stuff and great quality cables.

RGB is analog, HDMI is digital, HDMI is one cable with video and audio.. rgb is like 3 conductors. RGB is the best quality for analog but if Hdmi is there its better. LIke someone mentioned above.. hdmi has no in between it either works or it doesnt just like all digital signals.

The 2009 change is for people who use their signal off an Antenna over the air, if you have comcast, att, direct tv.. basically a receiver box youll be good to go since that box is a converter in itself.. but if you run your cable straight from an antenna to your tv you need the converter. All heard theyre going to be switching the VHF to UHF.

found out that it wasnt the cables or the splitter, i replaced everything only to find it actually is Comcast shitty HD audio, its mainly alot of audio skipping, the hd is not bad.. waiting for Verizon's FIOS TV to expand to the bay area and im switching, its got the highest quality of all these companies, only other comparable one is att's u-verse.
