#11 USC at #6 Arizona State

In the midst of Rivalry Week, a few conference deciding games are going on, including this one. ASU now holds its own destiny. Winning out gives them the Pac-10 title; while Oregon, USC, and even UCLA are still in it.

Nebraska at Colorado

Although a fairly new rivalry dating back to 1980 unofficially, these two division rivals have been somewhat equal lately; after Nebraska has dominated in prior years save for the Buffaloes 1990 NC.

Mississippi at Mississippi State

The Egg Bowl in its 98th meeting between the two schools, proves to be a vital one for MSU, who can increase their bowl chances. The prize of this game is the Golden Egg and the winner proves which team is the best in the state of Mississippi for the season.

Wyoming at Colorado State

Dating back to 1968, the Border War between these two schools involves the winner receiving the Bronze Boot. The all-time record is Wyoming 20-19, but CSU has won 4 of the last 6.

#13 Texas at Texas A&M

This rivalry goes beyond football, as the Lone Star Showdown includes all sports in both schools and goes on a point system each year. Two years ago, the point system was put in to spark interest of the rivalry, with Texas winning the last two years and only up by 2 points this year going into the game. Texas still has a chance to win the Big 12 South with a win and a loss from Oklahoma, with a chance to met either Kansas or Mizzou in the Big 12 CG.

#18 Tennessee at Kentucky

If Tennessee wins this game, the Vols will play LSU in the SECCG, as they hold the tie-breaker with UGA.

Utah at #25 Brigham Young

Dubbed the Holy War, this rivalry is bitter and seems to divide the entire state for a whole week leading to this game. BYU has already won the MWC, so this game is fueled by pure hatred for one another.

Miami (OH) at Ohio

The Battle of the Bricks, which involves all the athletic programs spills onto the football field this weekend. The Redhawks have already wrapped up the MAC East, making this a game for bragging rights.

#7 Georgia at Georgia Tech

This rivalry, coined as Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate, dates back to 1893. The rivalry has implications involved, as the winner may receive more government funding, better recruits and all around bragging rights for the state of Georgia. Georgia does not hold its own destiny, as a Tennessee win puts them in the SECCG.

#9 Oregon at UCLA

Believe or not, UCLA can still win the Pc-10 title. Winning out coupled with a few loses by other teams would give them the trophy. Oregon suffered its worst injury yet with potential Heisman winner Dixon being lost for the season with a torn ACL. Oregon can eliminate UCLA’s chances by beating them and hoping to win the Pac-10 title with an ASU loss. Oregon and ASU both have rivalry games next week that could potentially decide the Pac-10 title.

Oklahoma State at #10 Oklahoma

The Sooners were without Bradford for half the game against TTU, giving OU their second loss of the season. However, a win over OKST, their in-state rival, would cement an appearance in the Big 12 title game, and a win there could possibly propel them back in the NC race.

Florida State at #12 Florida

The Battle in the Swamp between the two Florida schools usually has bigger bowl games and sometimes NC implications written all over it. Unfortunately, FSU has seen some “down” years lately, with Florida flourishing and not only in football. Still, this heated rivalry promises to showcase some of the best athletes to appear in next year’s NFL draft and bragging rights for a whole year.

#22 Clemson at South Carolina

This rivalry goes even beyond football or even before one of the schools even became a school at all. Political issues going back to the civil war days tie into this rivalry and it is a nasty and hate filled game. The Gamecocks have not been a great team lately, but Spurrier knows a thing or two about coaching and rivalry games.

Washington State at Washington

For the 100th time, these two instate rivals will battle it out in the Apple Cup. It has been tough sledding for the UW as of late. They have not had a winning record in 5 years, but have managed to beat WSU 3 times, including last year. UW owns the all time record 64-29-6.

Florida Atlantic at Florida International

The Shula bowl, which is only 5 years old, is played by these schools and the winner received the Shula Award. Don Shula has ties to both schools.

Alabama at Auburn

Although the OSU/Michigan is one of the best rivalries in CFB, some say that this rivalry game is the best, period. Alabama leads the series all-time 38-32. The Iron Bowl has deep seeded hate between these schools and stretches across the whole state of Alabama, politically and athletic wise.

GAME(S) OF THE WEEK

#19 Boise State at #15 Hawaii

Although not an official rivalry, these two teams have been leading the way in the WAC the last few years and it’s no different this year. Winner gets the WAC title and maybe even a shot at an at-large bid in a BCS game.

#8 Virginia Tech at #16 Virginia

The commonwealth Cup is awarded to the winner, started in 1996; although the two teams have played annually every year since 1970. More importantly for this game is that the winner represents the Coastal division for the ACC and meets BC in the ACCCG.

#20 Connecticut at #3 West Virginia

Not a rivalry, but the winner takes the Big East title and a BCS birth. For WVU, a win and a few key losses may put them in the hunt for the NC. UConn has been the surprise team not only in the conference, but in the national picture as well this year. WVU has a lot of weapons offense, have a good defense and are at home. These feats may be too tall for UConn to overcome.

#4 Missouri at #2 Kansas

This may be the biggest game of the year, as the Border Showdown sets the stage for the Big 12 North representative in the Big 12 CG. This game also has a rich history that dates to the civil war, as fights would break out between the two states at the border. The all-time record for this game is dead even, with each school having 53 wins. Chase Daniels and Todd Reesing are both Heisman candidates and this game could make or break the chances of appearing in NY for the ceremony.
