the sound quality on certain tapes are better than some cds i have...Hollow Tip's "Takin No Shortz" sounds way better, picks up more parts of the beat than my cd version does
A lot of bands/artists I listen to these days put out tape only releases in editions of 100 or less copies. They usually sell for between $4-7. I have no idea how much they cost to make but I think the whole tape underground movement is pretty dope.
This is mostly noise rock, ambient/drone music, experimental/noise artists and stuff of the likes and a few "normal" type bands. Not hip hop or anything like that. I really can't picture some hip hop heads or people who listen to rap these days buying tapes because most rap these days is all about being a baller and tapes are not balling lol.
shit I might have to look into it. it would be exclusive as hell and I feel most people who would like what I do would own cassete players sumwhere anyhow (no90'sbabies)
Call me weird, but looking at my childhood, the sound that a bunch of cassette tapes make when they're clanging against each other is a beautiful noise. I just remembered digging in my backpack for my walkman and Bone Thugs tape, lol.
Tapes are great because u HAD to listen to the album...forced artists to actually make an album...i couldnt imagine listening to a Demolition Men mixtape on tape now...id lose my mind
