DENVER – Denver Nuggets All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony was arrested on suspicion of DUI early Monday morning, hours after scoring 11 points in a Nuggets win.

9NEWS has learned Anthony was cited after being given a series of sobriety tests at 4 a.m. He was pulled over on southbound Interstate 25 at 20th Street. Anthony then submitted to a blood test, the results of which will not be available for about two weeks, according to police.

The 23-year-old NBA star, who was alone in the car at the time, was pulled over because he failed to drive in a single lane and for not dimming his lights, police say.

The arrest came hours after the Nuggets defeated the Houston Rockets 111-94 to inch closer to a playoff berth. Anthony struggled in the contest making only three of the 14 shots he took.

Denver Nuggets Vice President of Basketball Operations Mark Warkentien issued the following statement today:

"We are aware of the situation involving Carmelo Anthony. We are currently gathering information and we will have no further comment at this time."

twice in history....yayyyyyyyyy. That nuggets team was much more conssitent team, than this defenseless, self centered bunch of wanna bee nba'ers we have right now.

Outside of najera, camby and AI there is not 1 person who gives there all every game, it's just too bad najera is mediocre, camby is afraid to shoot when ai and melo on floor, and ai well he does what he can.

also dallas wasn't that strong of a #1 anyways last year.

Yup, Melo fucked up AGAIN, but it don't change the fact that Denver should be in the playoffs, and hopefully they put forth the effort they did when they beat Golden State to make the first round interesting.
