Canada goes hyphy

Peniro, the old mobb sound was the shit. but this is a new era, so saying "fuck hyphy" to me isn't simply saying that you're not feeling the new style of music... because the music is only one aspect of what the hyphy movement is to the Bay. Hyphy is a state of mind. A way of saying, "fuck the world, tomorrow isn't promised, so let's live like it's the last day of our lives." Hyphy is how we've lived for years out here, really, it was just a word that was stamped on to that state of mind to make it easier to digest for folks outside of our soil to try and comprehend.
I understand to a point what you mean about the music -- there's a lot of junk out there, but filter through it -- just like any other genre -- and the cream will rise to the top.

yaaa.. the whole hyphy movement and bay music as a whole is/was totally inexistent in canada for the most part. i would have never gotten into these talented rappers and slappin beats if i wasnt on the computer all day lookin for some new cuts.
the fact is even if ur on the computer. if u dont alrdy know about bay artists u aint ever gonna find out cuz u guys so exclusive! i can ask anyone here who Too $hort or E-40 is and they will instantly know who they are. BUT they will not know wtf "the bay" means or that these dudes from there. Even after listening to e-40's tell me when to go.. they jus dont kno wtf hyphy is, and theres no way we can find out cuz its so exclusive to ur area. But if we did know about this shit wed all be jumpin on it cuz everyone i introduce this music to instantly loves it all!
i was jus chillin watchin much music.. and i saw J-Diggs new joint Gimme Dat and i was shocked that they were playin a bay video so its deff gettn out there.. it jus needs a bigger push to let everyone kno what the bay is all about. no1 out here even knows who mac dre is, or thizz, or anything!! shine some light on this issue and ull blow up! get ur videos out there! do shows out there!
despite all that, ud be suprised how many hyphy canadians there are, and im probably the moossstt haha i rep oakland on my headgear, on my jerseys, down on my damn shirts its all about the bay i cant wait to see more bay artists get big cuz yall deffinately fuckin deserve it!
PS i found out bout hyphy thru this site! i was on general alot lookin at tracklistings and cd releases.. then i checked out what BART was all about. good lookin' fam!

mayne, i gotta tell all the other artists on this site, the response that Starski has been getting from cats up in Montreal has been phenomenal. I know everybody says it, but it's definitely paying off for us to network and build connections outside of the Bay Area. Start knocking on them doors via myspace, etc, because the worst thing an industry player can tell you is "no," and the truth is you that may hear fifty "no's" before you hear a "yes."
