The thing with tHe east Coast Djay's is they started with real tapes,
what does that have to do with anything, whether it is a tape or a cd? the idea is the same, regardless of format. if you have a music cd, or a music dvd, what's the difference besides what type of disc it is?

and the folks who made em werent really trying to make money, they just used it as a tool to get their name and the artists they like names out.
i see what you're saying, but why is 50 cent talking about dj whoo kid driving around a bently? how many ppl do shit for free when they can get paid?

Chinese Mike I agree with EVERYTHING u said bro...

Alot of Bay cats dont WANT their shit on mixtapes cause they view it as bootlegging.

As far as MY tapes go, the ones I sell I've just been doing myself (ie. burnin em etc) so yeah they don't reach that many cats. That is all changing as we speak tho. And the Bay mixes I've been putting down for the last couple years up on here get heard by quite a few people....and they're free

We need a street dj out here who brings that hard street flavor but its not possible if they dont come from that lifestyle. I havent seen many djs out here that come from da hood. Somebody that represents for the streets and actually stay connected in da streets with whats hot or not. Thats what i like about eastcoast, they support their djs/artists. The so called djs out here are scared to go anywhere near the hood!! the music is too gangsta for them. they only have a club music syndrome.
cause the ghetto is scary around this muthafucka and that's real! lolz

glad we see eye to eye. good shit for giving em out free, but that's not necessarily economically practical in the long run, no? Internet is the best free dist. tho, but then the DJ is doing work for free, yes? but not if u look at it as doing it for the love, but then how long would one do it under those circumstances then? and is there anything with making a small profit off of their work?

nobody's mentioned the "Gumbo Mixes" yet , Macadoscious Nutt got some skills and has been puttin it down for at least 5 years..they're all the way up to # 18 now...but i see the latest ones havin more east coast on there...the best ones in my opinion are 1 thru 10 which are pretty much mostly west coast (LA and the bay),down south and r-n -b songs....these are must haves!!

peace,
Dubl-Z
That's the main reason I quit buyin' them. I do recommend every single one up until number 10 though...DJ Macadocious got skills.

fuck i'll say itnow and whoever wants to listen........if you really interested in doing this and can come with some HOT SHIT, or know some folks that got hot shit holla at me, i'll do one right now.....the only problem is you gotta be able to get some of these cats from the bay that got names and a rep. to do it without gettin paid, for the love of the game and promotion....that's all it is, who knows someone may get heard and take a step closer to REALLY makin it happen..
